Villa Monterosso is a large detached villa set in 2 acres of grounds, situated within a beautiful national park. The village is near the picturesque town of Caprese Michelangelo, birthplace of the famous painter, and is perfectly placed to enable you to explore the area, from the nearby historic towns of Anghiari and Sansepolcro or slightly further afield to Assisi, Florence or Siena. With stunning views, it is also ideal if you want a more relaxing break - either sunning yourself on the terrace with a good book and a glass of wine or floating in the 13 x 6 metre pool and taking in the outstanding natural beauty of the valley.

Notes on accommodation
Guests will be provided with a welcome basket of local produce on arrival. The house has full central heating, and two large open fires, making it ideal for all year round use - all central heating and firewood included in the price. The property is non-smoking. Children are welcome; a cot and highchair are provided and the stairs within the house are protected with stairgates.
Accessibility
The property is accessed via stairs and is spread over 3 floors. Unfortunately, this makes it unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The swimming pool is 13m x 6m which is open from mid May until the end of September and is heated at cooler times. There is a large patio area with sun loungers and a large patio umbrella. A number of pool toys are available for guests use. There is a large barbecue/pizza oven for guests use, and a large table nearby for alfresco dining. There is another, smaller, picnic table available which can be moved at guests discretion and a bench located in the shady chestnut wood so guests can take advantage of the cooler air and enjoy the views.
Coast/Beach
Nearest beach is at Rimini - approx 1 hr 30 mins by car.
Golf
Golf is available approx 45 minutes away near Perugia.
Skiing
Skiing Near Balze at Monte Fumaiolo (approx 50 mins drive). Blue and red runs only.
Travel
Car hire is essential. Airports include Bologna (Forli) - approx 1hr 30 mins, Bologna - approx 1hr 50 mins, Rimini - approx 1hr 30 mins, Pisa - approx 2hrs 30 mins, and Rome - approx 3hrs.
Distances
Caprese Michelangelo village - approx 15 mins by car, the birthplace of Michelangelo, all local amenities. Anghiari - in Italy's top ten of most beautiful towns. Stunning walled hilltop town - 25 minute drive. La Verna - where St. Frances got his stigmata - a beautiful monastery - 30 minute drive Sansepolcro - birthplace of Piero Della Francesca - another lovely walled town - 40 minute drive. Also - Arezzo (40 mins), Cortona (1 hr), Perugia (1hr 15 mins), Florence (2hrs) Siena (2hrs 15 mins).
Further details
The village in which the house is located has a small, but comprehensively stocked shop. Caprese Michelangelo (5km) has pharmacy, doctor's surgery, bank, post office, bars, several restaurants and a small supermarket. Local market days: Anghiari - Wednesday, Sansepolcro - Tuesdays and Saturdays. Local Festivals: Caprese Michelangelo - Chestnut Festival held during last two weekends in October.
Booking notes
A deposit of 30% is required upon booking - balance is payable 28 days in advance of departure. A damage deposit of 200 euros is required to be paid on arrival, and will be returned on departure providing there have been no problems.
