'Il Roseto' has from its terrace an unbroken view of the highest mountain in Tuscany 'Mount Pisanino'. This area of Northern Tuscany is still mostly unspoilt and Il Roseto is perfectly situated to afford easy access to many ancient hilltop towns and villages that remain as they were decades ago.

Notes on prices
If your group has more than 4 an extra charge per head is payable depending on dates required. Rates are for Saturday to Saturday lettings but we do accommodate midweek bookings.

Changeover day
Ask for any day and we will do our best to fit you in. Midweek bookings attract an extra 10% on rental. Arrivals not before 4pm, Departures vacate by midday, peak and mid season, but can be flexible at other times (November - April).

Accommodation
Bedrooms: Bedroom One double half four poster bed.
Beds 2 and 3 each with twin beds.
A cot is available for very young children if required.
Bathrooms: The downstairs bathroom is spacious and modernised with twin basins, bath with up-and-over shower, WC and bidet. Towels included.
Kitchen: Kitchen, with traditional marble window sink, large dishwasher, microwave oven, gas cooker and tall fridge/freezer.
Utility Room: Washing machine located in the bathroom.
Living Rooms: Satelite TV DVD combo. Leather 3 piece suite and tables. Wood burning stove for those autumn/winter nights.
Other: All rooms are cleaned and prepared ready for incoming guests by our local key holders. Luana and Anna.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All linen and towels included, please use our towels inside the house only. 50 euros for departure cleaning to be paid per week when collecting the keys from our maid Luana.

Notes on accommodation
Il Roseto is a comfortable and spacious cottage that has central heating, also a wood burning stove in the lounge. Many more photos of our property are available on request.

Accessibility
The village is on a slight hill but must not be assumed as being suitable for everybody. Il Roseto is however suitable for most.

Outside
Roseto has a south facing terrace with far reaching views, there is a good sized private garden, a patio set with sun loungers and also a portable BBQ for guests use. The village is a perfect place from which to enjoy trekking and is surrounded by footpaths. Restaurant/ bar/shop in village only a 3 mins stroll.

Coast/Beach
50 mins by car or train are the classic multi coloured Italian coastal towns of Portovenere and Lerici where safe swimming can be enjoyed, friendly cafe's and many good restaurants welcome summer visitors. Enjoy a boat trip or train to the Cinque Terre (5 lands) where the villages are almost built into the cliff faces. Highly recommended, A great day out!

Golf
A good 9 hole golf course is a 40 minutes drive, near Castelnuovo de Garfagnana, details available on request.

Skiing
Hour drive to Cerrato or hour and half to Abetone during the ski season which is usually from December to April.

Travel
Visit Lucca, Pisa, Florence and the coast. 1 hour 30 mins from Pisa Airport or 1 hour 40 mins from Genoa. Low cost flights are available to Pisa or Genoa from Bournemouth, Bristol, Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Dublin amongst others. Allow 14 hours drive from Calais to Metra. Car hire is essential with all major companies available in both airports.

Distances
The house is in the centre of Metra but the larger nearby town of Piazza Al Serchio is 15/20 minutes by car. Lucca is about 90 minutes, Pisa 90 minutes and Florence 2 hours, Cinque Terra about an hour, all by car. Trains run every 30 minutes from the 2 local stations to all these places.

Further details
The village is on the edge of a national park which has walking trails through varied woodland giving outstanding views. Northern Tuscany remains mostly unspoilt with many historical walled hill towns that take visitors back to quieter times Mountain bike hire is available at the bar in the village. For horse trekking, which is a great way to enjoy the local scenery we supply details for a nearby stables, beginners very welcome. Metra has several small shops including a cheese makers (must visit and sample), a butchery and also a general store, which is attached to the welcoming village restaurant/bar which is open all day every day for coffee/ice cream or very good meals at good prices. There are several other restaurants in nearby villages which offer the same great value. There are 2 local train stations allowing easy journeys through the scenic Garfagnana valley towards Barga, Lucca, Pisa and Florence or West towards Le'rici and the world famous 'Cinque Terre' coastal villages. Nearby Portovenere is truly fantastic, with its harbour and fantastic views towards the mainland and Apuan Alps.
