This beautifully restored and spacious Tuscan farmhouse close to Florence, has terracotta floors, original beams and traditional local furniture, and lies in 8 acres of wild flower-covered meadows. Enjoying spectacular views, the house is private and secluded. There are walnut, fig, apricot and cherry trees and a profusion of lavender, rosemary and thyme. The main house has 4 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms with showers, 4 large living rooms including fully-fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, telephone and internet access. An additional double bedroom with ensuite shower is available at extra cost. Close to the house is a 12m x 6m swimming pool with shade provided by cherry and walnut trees. There is a covered magnificent dining terrace with spectacular views of the Sieve Valley. A portable barbecue is provided.

Notes on prices
Prices are in UK pounds per week for L'Olmo which sleeps 8. Another double bedroom with en-suite shower is available for an additional £300 to £600/week depending on the season, sleeping a total of 10 people. The is a £500 returnable security deposit. Rental can be paid in US dollars and euro on request.
Changeover day
Saturday is our normal changeover day. There may be some flexibility out of the high season.

Notes on accommodation
The house is light and airy, all rooms have large windows with excellent views of the property and surrounding hills. There is full central heating for which there is a small extra charge. The house is well equipped for children with two cots, high chairs and games and toys.
Outside
Outside there is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, a magnificent covered dining terrace with large table, comfortable chairs with spectacular views over the Sieve valley and lights of Florence. A portable barbecue is available, charcoal and starter wood supplied. Close to the house is a 12m x 6m swimming pool with shade provided by cherry and walnut trees.
The nearest village is Londa, 10 minutes by car. It has a variety of shops, bank, bar and two excellent restaurants. Florence is just 45 minutes by car or train.
Coast/Beach
L'Olmo is approximately 2 hours by car from either coast. The best beaches are at Viareggio on the Mediterranean coast and Rimini on the Adriatic coast.
Golf
Poggio Dei Medici Golf Course opened to acclaim in 1995 with the popular Italian magazine, Il Mondo del Golf, recognizing it as the best new golf course in Italy. Condè Nast Traveler recently placed the course on its ‘Hot List’ for international destinations. Set in rolling hills 30 km northeast of Florence (approx 45 minutes from L’Olmo), Poggio delivers memorable Tuscan views of the Mugello region. More importantly, the course is an intriguing layout of bent grass fairways and greens in impeccable condition. It is truly a pleasant surprise.
The course plays just over 7,000 yards from the back tees while the mid-tees are quite a challenge at 6,600 yards. Poggio is Italian for ‘hill’ and one will encounter a fair share of uneven lies. Tee shots are relatively straightforward in that landing areas are easily seen, yet most approach shots are subject to changing elevation, making club selection a challenge.
Travel
L'Olmo is served by airports at Florence, Pisa and Bologna. Florence airport is about one hour away and Pisa and Bologna about an hour and a half. A car is essential at L'Olmo and to enjoy visiting other Tuscan towns all of which are very accessible by road.
Distances
The village of Londa is 10 minutes by car, and other local villages of interest include Dicomano, Vicchio and Rufina. Florence is 40 minutes by car or local train service. Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca and Arezzo are all recommended to visit and can easily reached by car.

We can arrange for visits and tastings at local wineries; lessons in Tuscan cooking, hand painting pottery and many other activities by request. For bikers there is a very good local shop where you can rent road and mountain bikes very reasonably by the day or week.
Booking notes
A deposit of 30% of the rental fee is required to confirm the reservation. The balance is due 56 days before the holiday commences, together with a refundable security deposit of £500.

About the owner
Margaret and I are a retired English couple who fell in love with this part of Tuscany after vacationing here several times. After buying L'Olmo in 2000 we both gave up our jobs in London to enjoy the lifestyle and friendship of the local people and decided to share it with others as much as possible. We are here for most of the summer and spend our winters in the UK and travelling to visit other parts of the world we have not yet seen. We have been married for 44 years and have two children and five grandchildren. We have lived most of our lives in England but also spent 10 years living in the USA.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We originally bought L'Olmo with the intention of using it as a holiday home. But we found that the more we visited it the more we wanted to be here and so we found a way to spend more of the year here by sharing this wonderful house and location with family and friends. Anyone who is looking for a very special holiday will certainly enjoy this undiscovered part of Tuscany with its green hills and friendly people. We both love sharing our experiences and local knowledge in the hope that it will somehow enhance our visitors' enjoyment of the area. One of our American friends summed it upwell, 'urban comfort, rural pleasure'.
Unique benefits of the property
L'Olmo is well situated to reach and enjoy other parts of Tuscany. The local villages of Londa, Dicomano, Vicchio and Rufina offer a diverse culture of local life and are very welcoming to visitors. Our local region known as The Mugello/Val di Sieve was chosen by the Medici for their summer homes and as the best place to make wine and olive oil. Florence is just 40 mins by train and other interesting Tuscan towns such as Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo can all be reached in about an hour. After a day travelling and enjoying the bustle of these busy towns it is always nice to return to the peace and tranquility of L'Olmo and enjoy a glass of Chianti while watching the sun set over Florence.
