Il Pollaio is a cottage of the 17th century. Recently refurbished, in the rustic mountain village of Decontra (830m absl), in the Majella National Park; very scenic, fabulous wildlife. The area is recommended to people that love relaxing and hiking. We organize cookery courses and touristy flights. In the village there is the restaurant Il Cervo, known in the region for it’s venison. Within 10 min drive there is the small town of Caramanico Terme. Famous for its thermal bath Caramanico offers all needed; butchers, bakers, post office, mini market, chemist, summer swimming pool, bars and restaurants. Even if in the summertime Decontra and Caramanico are connected by bus once a day, car hire is recommended. The beaches of the Adriatic see are only 1 hour drive and Rome can be reached in 2 hours via the A25 Pescara-Rome highway. Il Pollaio is an ideal solution for families as well; a full set of equipment for baby can be provided on request! Owners speak fluent English.

Prices per day in Euros.
10% discount for long bookings (more than 1 week). Prices include, linen, towels, electricity, gas. Heating is paid at the end of the stay based on consumption. Accommodation is for free for children under 3 years.
Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. Arrival preferred after midday. Departure preferred in the morning.

| Living Rooms: | The living room is part of the kitchen. There is a fireplace and a 2 seat sofa. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Towls and linen are changed once per week. The property is cleaned before the arrival and after the departure. Additional services: additional cleaning (10 Euro/hour minimum 1 hour) and breakfast (4 Euro per person) on request. |

Special interest holidays
We organize on request cooking courses at Il Pollaio for our guests. The cook, Donatella, is from the region, speaks English and is an expert of the typical Abruzzo dishes! For those looking for an exciting experience we offer touristic flights from Pescara airport. My husband Wolfgang is an experienced pilot with his own 4 seats aircraft.
Our neighbour, Lorenza, makes her own honey. It is known in the whole area. You can join the tours she organizes around her beehives and her laboratory.

Further details
Decontra is the starting point of lots of hikes and is easily connected on foot to historical sites (Eremo di San Bartolomeo, Eremo di Santo Spirito). Many other hikes are organized from the National Park Rangers in Caramanico Terme. You can find detailed info on the Majella National Park website.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
In 2003 I visited the beautiful village of Decontra and I fell in love with it. Being used to big cities (I have lived in Naples and Rome) the beauty of Abruzzo mountains was overwhelming. Since that visit many things have happened and today I am the happy owner of a stone cottage in the middle of the Majella National Park.
Unique benefits of the property
Staying in a stone cottage is for me like to live in a tale. The location is comfortable almost perfect if you like calmness and you want to reach a walking path without taking the car. You can go on foot also to the village restaurant where you can find the typical Abruzzo's food at a competitive price.
