Just what you need for a relaxing holiday in Rome. In one of the most sought-after residential neighbourhoods in Rome, Casa dei Pini is a sunny, newly refurbished modern 50 sq.m. apartment. From a small private road, you enter the house through a cool large court to the first floor, served by lift. The apartment furniture is elegant and sensible. Lots of space for luggage, clothes and linens (provided). An ample terrace runs all around the flat. Beautiful views through pine trees to open sky in quiet surroundings. Shops are 5 mins walk (fruit and veg, grocery, butcher, bar). Means of transport: bus 982 takes you to St. Peters, the Tiber and town centre in 10 minutes, the Metro A at the other end of run in approx. 20 min. More buses and train run close by. You will find on arriving a fresh supply of food for breakfast and a couple of meals. The owners live next door and will be happy to help get the most from your stay. English and French spoken. Use of owner's swimming pool in summer.

Suitable for children and people preferring to relax after a hard day touring town. The proximity to the park is ideal for walks and jogging. We can provide baby-cot and changer on request. Pram-accessible. Heating can be regulated independently. On request you can receive Italian cookery lessons and catered meals from professional cook in your apartment! Separate agreements for cost of lessons and meals. Possibility of using owner's swimming pool downstairs during summer months.

Coast/Beach
Ostia is the popular beach for Romans, it takes only 30 mins. by train to get there from the Pyramid (Lido train terminal). You can rent an umbrella and beach-beds in any of the Stabilimenti on the beach wich has dark sand. Many restaurants available.
Special interest holidays
On request you can receive Italian catered meals and cookery lessons from our professional chef also in English or French in your apartment! Separate agreements for cost of meals and lessons.
Travel
Fiumicino Airport is nearest and served by a train service which brings you in a half-hour to Trastevere Train Station. From there, 15 min drive/bus to the house. Ciampino Airport is further away, taxi to central Rome have fixed costs. Coaches available. Termini main train station is connected to San Pietro train Station, really close to the house (10 min. bus 982 or drive). The Underground (Metro) A stop Ottaviano is near the terminal of 982 bus, that takes you to the apartment in approx. 15 m.
Distances
The Vatican is less than 10 min. by bus (982); from there you walk to main attractions like Castel St.Angelo, or board other buses to the heart of Rome (Colosseum, Forum, Trevi, Navona).
Further details
Shops are 5 mins walk from the flat: fruit and veg, butcher, bar, grocer. Supermarket is downhill (7-8 mins walk) and a very nice daily farmers' market is 10 minute walk, on Via Gregorio VII where you can find several banks too as well as chemists. Restaurants are close by too, we will suggest the ones we appreciate. If you're not feeling like cooking but want to stay in the flat, you can order a lovely meal by the owner's daughter, professional caterer, and spend far less!
If you like views, walking through the local Park to the Gianiculum provides you with a stunning view over the roofs of ancient Rome.
Booking notes
Booking can be made through telephone or e-mail, but will have to be confirmed by a deposit of 100€. If you cancel, the deposit will not be refunded. Payment agreements can be settled via e-mail.

About the owner
I moved to Rome from London in the early '50s. I soon fell in love with a fascinating Italian man, much older than me, and we got married 5 years later. When a family was getting bigger (4 kids altogether!), we found this house under construction in a beautiful green area. We wanted our children to have a garden to play in, so we bought the apartment, which also has a swimming pool.
When the children started moving out and I was widowed, the house was getting too big for me but I couldn't bring myself to sell it, and so I decided to divide part of it and rent it as a holiday home.
I have enjoyed welcoming and meeting some lovely people from all over the world, and will still enjoy doing so in future.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
It is a beautiful residential area, very spacious and green. The Villa Doria Pamphili park is just 3 minutes down the road, but nonetheless we are only 10 minutes from the historical centre of Rome and the Vatican.
Unique benefits of the property
Around here, the air is much cleaner and in summer cooler than in the centre. Because we are on a hill (Colle Gelsomino - Jasmine Hill) it doesn't get as hot as other areas of Rome in the summer.
It is also quiet, since there are no crowds or traffic jams.
Our local bus line gets into the centre in 10 minutes and is very reliable. In fact, I never use my car when I need to go to the centre. It's much easier to hop on the bus!
We offer a quiet location, yet ideal for sightseeing. In summer we offer use of our private swimming pool in our lovely large garden, which is such a blessing in a big city.
