Outside
Outside in the garden, there is a large outdoor swimming pool with seating area all around. There is a charcoal & gas BBQ for you to dine 'al fresco'. There is a spacious parking area accommodating up to 3 cars within the gates of the property.
The villa is perfectly situated in the hillside town of Croce, just a 5 minute drive down to Menaggio.
Coast/Beach
Menaggio is just a 5 minute drive from the Villa where you will find 'Lido Garden', which is a sand beach with swimming pools.
There is a fine selection of restaurants, delis, fresh grocers and of course delicious gelato and pizza! To keep you moving and fit while on vacation: play a round of golf at the infamous Menaggio & cadenabbia Golf Club, mini golf, hiking trails, mountain biking, free climbing, swimming and a new orienteering field all in stunning locations.
Golf
Villa Sophia is within walking distance of the famous Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Course which is the second oldest Golf Club in Italy & represents British tradition at its best. Overlooking Lake Como, it is a course combining old-world values with a heritage of golfing culture. The elevated position of the course provides splendid views in all directions. Players can catch glimpses of the lakes and in the distance, the central Alps.
Skiing
The little town of Chiavenna will delight you with its charm and typical character. Situated approximately 20km from the winter sports resort of Madesimo and 23km from Villa Sophia, Chiavenna enjoys an ideal location for all sorts of activities in summer as well as in winter.
Getting to the ski resort of Madesimo takes about 20 mins from Chiavenna. Catch the funicular railway "the Sky Express" from the town of Campoldolcino.
Madesimo (1500-3000m) is an ideal resort for family skiing - it has 60km of cruisey wide pistes and a nice mixture of about 50% higher mountain runs and 50% tree-lined runs. They replaced nearly all the lifts in 2004 and fitted the latest four-and six-man covered 'fast' chairs, and we've found we've never had to queue much. In true Italian style eating is taken seriously, and there are plenty of places to take a break on the mountain as well as in Madesimo itself.

Lake Como is a haven for cycling, walking, water skiers, hiking, windsurfing and much much more.
Travel
Getting to the property could not be easier, there are 3 major airports Milan Bergamo (Ryanair), Milan Liante and Malpensa (Easyjet and all other major airlines). From Menaggio there are two major bus routes 1 to Como and 1 to Lugano and also the ferry runs 2 services to Como the fast and the cruiser.
Distances
Menaggio centre is a 5 minute drive.
Lugano in Switzerland is around 20km.
Como is around 26 km.
Milan is less than 1 hr and a half drive.

Internally the ground floor boasts a spacious and relaxed living room with flat screen TV, a fully fitted kitchen and a beautiful guest suite furnished to the highest standard with a comfortable king size bed and fitted with a brand new en-suite bathroom with power shower. A stone built BBQ is situated to the terrace outside and so the kitchen provides convenient catering and food preparation options to fully enjoy alfresco dining during your stay.
A wonderful stone staircase with open banister rail and supporting stone column leads to the first floor which provides the principal living and entertaining quarters. Here at the heart of the villa guests can enjoy a splendid open plan kitchen diner and a splendid drawing room.
The fully fitted kitchen provides all the desired appliances required during your stay and boasts a bespoke hand painted Tuscan-style design with original marble flooring. The dining area features a large antique table with marble fireplace and original wooden flooring. A purpose-built private bar also provides a fabulous way to entertain guests with aperitifs before dining. The romantic Juliette balcony also provides the perfect spot for enjoying a glass of prosecco before a splendid dinner.
The drawing room features two marble fireplaces and a lovely place to relax and entertain with double aspect views and comfortable sofas to unwind.
Stone steps lead to the second floor where two bedrooms with single beds and a double sofa bed are provided for guests as well as a modern fitted bathroom with power shower.
The top floor of the villa boasts a spectacular 85sqm master suite with romantic beamed ceilings, a comfortable king size bed, a newly fitted luxury en-suite with Jacuzzi, a sitting area with gym and splendid panoramic lake views of Lake Como.
Booking notes
To make a confirmed booking, fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival. We have a minimum stay of 3 nights.

We stayed at Villa Sophia August 28th - Sept 4th and it was truly the best vacation we have ever had! The directions to your office were very good and we met Bryan who was very nice and took us to the villa and showed us around. Anytime we had questions - like where the bus stop was back to Croce, etc your staff was always very friendly and helpful! The villa is just amazing and the views of Lake Como are stunning! We really appreciated the 'welcome basket' that we ordered - it was nice to have some food after traveling so far! We rented a car but the local bus system works very well too and it is nice to have a bus stop so close to Villa Sophia.
A special 'thank you' to Lydia for taking all of our phone calls from the States with our many questions and reserving the villa for us - sorry you were not in the office when we stopped by!
