Traditional country house set in the picturesque hamlet of Vitoio, in the heart of the Garfagnana, 1 hour from Lucca. The accommodation consists of 2 independent apartments which can be rented individually or together, sleeping 5 and 6. The sunny verandas are the perfect place to enjoy an alfresco breakfast whilst soaking up the unforgettable panoramic views. The stunning 'infinity' swimming pool has an adjoining patio with barbecue area and a shady pergola for relaxing and outdoor dining. There is a great restaurant within walking distance and shops, a pizzeria, bank, pharmacy and train station in Camporgiano, 5 minutes by car. All the most famous Tuscan must-see places like Pisa, Florence, Lucca and the Cinque Terre are easily accessible and the National Parks of Orrechiella and Alpi Apuane are literally on the doorstep. The beautiful beach resorts of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi can be reached in just under 2 hours by car.

Notes on prices
The prices are for each apartment per week in euros. Bed-linen, towels and a Welcome Pack of groceries are included. Heating extra. Discounts for stays of more than 2 weeks and for renting both apartments together. Apartments available from 1st April - 31st October.
Changeover day
There is no set changeover day in order to allow our guests the freedom to enjoy the lower mid-week prices offered by some of the airlines that fly into Pisa, e.g. Easyjet, Jet2, Ryanair and British Airways.

Notes on accommodation
There is a no smoking policy inside the apartments. Sorry, no pets.
Accessibility
Car rental is recommended. The house is easily accessible and has its own parking space. The ground floor apartment is accessible for wheelchair users. The swimming pool is on the lower terrace and is reached on foot via a set of winding steps. It is possible for wheelchair users to access the pool area via a cobbled slope that runs through the owner's entrance. The owners would be happy to facilitate this access.
Outside
The house sits on a picturesque hillside and is part of a rural small-holding. The owners live in a separate house on the site. They grow their own produce and keep chickens, horses, donkeys and sheep on the property. Children are welcome to pet the animals and ride the donkeys, under the supervision of the owners. Horse-riding can be arranged. The 'infinity' pool, which is shared by both apartments, measures 10m x 5m and is 1.35m deep. There are graduated steps at one end.
Coast/Beach
The popular beach resorts of Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi can be reached in just under 2 hours by car.
Golf
There is a small 6 hole golf course at Pieve Fosciana, 12 kms away.
Travel
Nearest airport is Pisa, 1.5 hrs by car or train. Bologna airport is 2.5 hrs by car. Both airports have car rental agencies. There is a main-line railway station in Camporgiano, 3km from Vitoio.
Distances
Lucca is 1 hour by car or train, Florence 2.5 hours, Barga 30 minutes, Bagni di Lucca 40 minutes. Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, the capital town of the Garfagnana, is 15 minutes drive.

Living up to the discerning visitor’s dream of real Italian family eating, there are a number of excellent local restaurants to try, one within walking distance and plenty more within a few minutes drive. Horse-riding, walking, cycling and fishing are among the activities available in the surrounding hills and lakes. As well as sight-seeing in the classic Tuscan tourist spots such as Lucca’s ancient walls, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Duomo of Florence, this location also offers guests the chance to experience the natural beauty of the Garfagnana, as yet unspoilt by tourism, with its winding mountain roads leading up to archetypal Italian villages, high enough to disappear into the clouds. To help you to unwind, we can even organise a relaxing reflexology or Indian head massage session! We can also introduce you to some delicious Tuscan wines and food by arranging tastings and pizza or pasta evenings, or by recommending local restaurants.

About the owner
Ciao! I’m Fabio Corrieri and, along with my family, Salvatore, Alba and Battista, we are proud to welcome guests to our home in Vitoio, Tuscany. To complete the team, we have an English interpreter, Lesley, who lives nearby and is always on hand to assist our guests. As well as the holiday apartments, we run a 10 acre small-holding, raising livestock and producing our own food and wine. Whenever we can we snatch an hour or two away from the farm-work to ride our horses through the chestnut woods surrounding our land and often invite our guests to join us. We are passionate about Italian food and we very much enjoy cooking for our guests and sharing an evening meal with them beside the pool, complemented with our own vino rosso, naturally! Salute!

The Corrieri family has lived on the property and farmed its land for several generations. We are immersed in spectacular mountain scenery, each season making it even more beautiful than the one before, so we never tire of the view. For us it is the perfect place to live; tranquil and green but within easy reach of town for shopping and entertainment.
