Villetta Serena is set in the heart of the beautiful Puglian countryside, 4km from the medieval town of Oria, amidst ancient, picturesque olive groves and fields of vines producing the renowned local olive oil and wine. The property has been sympathetically restored to the highest standards and is now ready to be enjoyed as a unique holiday experience. Made from traditional tufo stone, it features an exposed stone stella volta (star) ceiling in the bedroom and a barrel ceiling in the kitchen and bathroom. The accommodation is well furnished and will provide everything you will need for a comfortable, enjoyable stay, including a lovely 10 x 5m mosaic-tiled pool, new for 2012. There is ample outside space, both covered and open, to enjoy the warmth and tranquillity throughout the day starting with breakfast on the patio, taking a siesta under the shade of an olive tree after lunch, to enjoying a glass of local wine as the sun goes down.

Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds (sterling) and include air-conditioning/heating, as appropriate. We are also happy to accept payment in euros at current exchange rate. A refundable security deposit of 100 euros is requested to cover any serious damage or breakages. Short stays welcome - please enquire. Please note the villetta is only available during April, May and October this year (2012).

Notes on accommodation
Air-conditioning/heating, digital TV, Region 2 DVD player - bring your own films and CDs or we have a small selection of DVDs you can borrow. Doors and window have fitted retractable fly-screens. All guests receive a welcome pack on arrival comprising basic provisions. Two adult bicycles are available should you wish to explore the surrounding countryside which is very flat with many attractive country lanes. Please note that this is a no-smoking property. Sorry, pets are not allowed. Airport transfers can be arranged to/from Brindisi - 25 euros each way. Car hire is recommended to see all that the area has to offer. Owners live nearby and can offer guidance and information.
Accessibility
This property is adjacent to a quiet country lane with private parking. There are two steps from the parking area to the property. Regrettably, the property is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Private, covered patio/sun terrace area suitable for alfresco dining and relaxation. Lawn and garden with sunloungers. Barbecue. Private parking. Shared use (with owners only) of swimming pool. Guests are invited to wander through our olive grove, small vineyard, fruit orchard, vegetable area and garden and to help themselves to seasonal fruits and vegetables. There are also beautiful lanes and tracks to be enjoyed either on foot or on bicycle.
Coast/Beach
Villetta Serena is ideally located to enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches and clear waters of both the Adriatic and Ionian seas. 25 minutes drive to the Ionian and 35 minutes to the Adriatic.

Brindisi airport 35 minutes drive away. Bari airport 1 hour 25 minutes drive away. Oria Train Station 5 minutes drive away.

5 mins to the Historical Centre of Oria. 10 mins to Manduria, home of the renowned Primitivo wine and fine Messapian remains dating back to 500 BC. 20 mins to Grottaglie, ‘ceramics capital of the south’. 25 mins to beaches on the Ionian. 35 mins to the beaches on the Adriatic. 35 mins to the ‘white city’ of Ostuni. 40 mins to the scenic Valle d’Itria. 55 mins to Alberobello - city of the trulli, world heritage site. Between 1hr/1hr30 to the beautiful cities/towns of Lecce/Otranto/Gallipoli.

Oria is a very picturesque, medieval town located on a hill top, with a population of around 15,500. It has charming narrow paved streets in the historic centre, an ancient Jewish quarter, a cathedral, town gates and many churches, all overlooked by a magnificent castle build by Frederick II in 1227-33. Originating over 8 centuries before Christ, Oria was once the capital of Messapia and has a fascinating and dramatic history.
There are many excellent restaurants and pizzerias in Oria, catering for all budgets. Oria attracts many people from nearby towns because of its renowned restaurants.
There is a selection of small and medium supermarkets in Oria, as well as an abundance of fruit and vegetable stalls and a weekly open market, which can provide all of your requirements.
We provide a folder for our guests with maps and information on the local area, as well as a selection of guide books for reference, and are happy to suggest attractions around Puglia.
Oria is just at 30 minutes drive from Brindisi Airport (direct flights from London Stansted with Ryanair).
Booking notes
A deposit of 30% of the full price is required on booking, with the balance payable 6 weeks before the start of your holiday. A refundable security deposit of 100 euro is requested when you arrive, to cover any serious damage/breakages.
