La Gardenia is a traditional stone-built house, dating from the Middle Ages. It is located in the heart of Todi, voted the most livable town on earth and the setting for the classic 1965 film The Agony and the Ecstasy. Situated on the upper 2 floors of the building, the accommodation, which is recommended by Lonely Planet the Tuscany/Umbria edition, offers stunning views over rooftops, churches and town monuments. From the balcony, which is large enough for a small table and chairs, one can enjoy the clean air and the peacefulness of the surrounding hills. Furnishings range in style from the distinguished 19th-century tea room, to the early 20th-century, and are elegant and comfortable. The owner is a native of Todi and can offer assistance in English with everything, from sightseeing to maid service on-request.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the La Gardenia townhouse in Todi. The apartment was very clean and provided us with all our living and cooking needs. We were attracted to the website because of the photos and because of the balcony overlooking Todi and surrounding hills. We spent a great deal of time out there drinking and eating local fare as well as having Bocelli playing in the background. Carlo was very helpful with our e-mails and while we were there. He met us at the car park, helped us with our luggage and answered all our questions and even suggested places for us to visit. We haven't stopped raving about our stay in Todi and we recommended La Gardenia to all our friends and hopefully one day they will share the same experiences as we did. To us having is a car is essential as you can travel freely around Umbria and there are some lovely small villages to visit.
