Villa Collecimino is a spacious detached property, with Scandinavian plunge pool, located in 3.5 acres of orchards, olive groves and agricultural land on top of a hill 550m above sea-level, with stunning panoramic views of the Apennine mountains on one side and the Adriatic sea on the other. Every room has a terrace where you can dine, sunbathe or just enjoy the constantly changing mountain views. It is just 40 minutes from Pescara airport, 30 minutes from the beaches and 40 minutes from the mountains. The villa consists of three spacious, separate, self-contained apartments - apartment 1 occupies the whole of the ground floor, apartment 2 occupies the whole of the top floor, apartment 3 occupies the ground floor annex. Each apartment has its own private external entrance and all 3 apartments have stunning mountain and/or sea views.

Prices shown are for the properties per week in UK Pounds.
We can offer a discount of 10% off the larger apartment, if two or more apartments are rented together. If you would like to rent the whole villa, please contact us.
A breakage deposit of GBP 200 or EUR 200 is payable on day of arrival and is returned on day of departure.

Changeover day is usually Saturday, but is flexible.

Notes on accommodation
The villa/apartments have central heating - fuel charged at cost (metered). The villa/apartment is suitable for children. We can supply cots and high chairs if required in all 3 apts.
10% discount offered on the larger apartment if 2 apartments are rented together. Please see our own website for more details.

Accessibility
Apartment 1 (ground floor) has reasonable wheelchair access - there is just one small step into the property from the road, then the rest is on the flat. Apartment 2 on the first floor does not have wheelchair access and is accessed via an external spiral staircase.

Outside
The villa stands in 3.5 acres of land, which includes a garden with shared swimming pool (6m x 4m - open mid/end May - mid September), BBQ, olive grove, orchard and agricultural land - guests are welcome to make use of the garden, grounds and olive grove. There are balconies/terraces on all sides of each apartment with access from all bedrooms, lounge and kitchen; all with tables, chairs and sun loungers and with views of the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountain ranges and/or the Adriatic sea.

Coast/Beach
The nearest beaches are 29 kms away on the Adriatic coast. They can be reached in about 30 minutes. Abruzzo has a very long coast line of pine-fringed, clean, sandy beaches that stretch for more than 15 miles. The shallow, warm waters of the Adriatic are ideal for safe, family bathing.

Golf
Two golf courses near Pescara - approx. one hour away.

Skiing
Skiing is available at several ski resorts approx. 1.5 - 2 hours drive away, e.g. Fonte Cerreto and Roccaraso. Suitable for all levels, beginners, families and competition level. Season from Jan-April. Ski equipment can be hired.

Travel
The nearest airport is Pescara which is 43km away and can be reached in about 40-45 minutes. Car hire is essential. Cars can be hired at Pescara airport. You can also fly into Ancona which is 2 hours away or Rome which is 2.5 hours away.

Distances
The nearest village is Cesi, 10 minutes drive away. Castiglione M.R. is 15 minutes away, Penne 15 minutes away and Pescara 40-45 minutes away. Rome is just 2.5 hours away.

Further details
There is a supermarket 2 minutes walk from our villa and a small bar. We also have regular visits from a mobile baker, fishmonger and butcher. The village of Cesi, 10 minutes drive away has a large supermarket and a range of other shops. Penne is 15 minute drive away with a good range of shops, cafe/bars, banks, post office, etc. and a beautiful old medieval section. Castiglione M.R. - 15 minutes drive away has a bank, post office and range of other shops. It is also an interesting town with many medieval buildings.
We have an 'agriturismo' just 500 yards from our villa that serves home cooked organic food (lunch and dinner) from produce grown on their own land and a short drive from many other restaurants and two medieval hilltop towns.
There are many places of interest to visit, including the Gran Sasso and Maiella National Parks where you can enjoy majestic mountain scenery, a wide variety of flora and fauna and if you are lucky, you may spot a wild bear, wolf or chamois. Or visit some of the lovely medieval towns, such as Atri, L'Aquila or Castelli, famed for its beautiful hand painted ceramics.

About the owner
Marek and I live on the south coast of England, close to Brighton along with our ginger 16 year old Manx cat called Charlie. Marek is a freelance translator. He can work anywhere in the world provided he has a computer and an internet connection, so this allows us to spend longish periods (about a third of the year) in Abruzzo. We have been letting our holiday home in Abruzzo for 5 years and we have been delighted with the feedback that we receive from our guests. Many of our guests come back year after year so we have made lots of new friends which is lovely. We love Abruzzo and feel very at home there and very much enjoy sharing this experience with our guests.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
On a beautiful sunny day in May 2004, we stumbled across this house while looking for a holiday home in Abruzzo. From the moment we walked through the house and stepped out on to the terraces we were smitten by the views of the snowcapped Maiella and Gran Sasso mountains in one direction, and then when we turned round - the Adriatic sea in the other. We also loved the house which had been built as 3 apartments and our first thought was what a wonderful location it would be for holidaymakers. We wanted to be close to an international airport (Pescara) - it is just a 40 minute drive away - and we wanted to be located close to reasonable roads (no dirt tracks to negotiate!) but able to be in a tranquil environment, amongst nature.

Unique benefits of the property
We love the beautiful views, the peace and quiet, the 'ruralness' of this location. We love the fact that we can be up in the mountains in 30-40 minutes but can also be on the beach in the same amount of time! We also enjoy the different activities - we can go walking/hiking in the snow in the mountains in May/June in the morning but can be sunbathing on the beaches on the same afternoon. We also love the traditional Abruzzese food - the restaurants are great - really good quality food at reasonable prices. And we mustn't forget to mention the people - the Abruzzese people have made us so welcome - they treat us as family.
