Bocca d'Oro is situated in the foothills of Monte Argentario,a mountain promontory with long sandy beaches and a rocky coastline in southern Tuscany. Most years you can swim right up to the end of October. Apart from providing a wonderful variety of seaside activities, it is well-placed for visits to Siena and Florence, or, nearer at hand, the Etruscan tombs of Tarquinia. The house itself has fine views of the sea and the mountain and, with 10 acres of land, it is a completely private place and yet only five minutes from the sea and the unspoilt village of Porto Ercole with its pretty harbour, restaurants, bars and cafes. Sleeping up to 14 people, it is suitable both for families or smaller groups (when the rent is reduced but all 8 bedrooms are still available). There is plenty of space both inside and on the wide expanse of the terrace surrounding it. The hillside garden is planted with cypress, pine and olive trees, and in a sheltered spot among these is the swimming pool.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in euros.
The house sleeps a maximum of 14. Additional people over that number will each be charged at a rate of 10% of the weekly rate.
Notes on September and October prices: the prices shown for both months are for up to 8 people. For larger parties the price for the first three weeks of September is 2750 euros per week and for the last week 2450 euros per week.
For October the price for larger parties is 2350 euros per week
Changeover day
Saturday is the changeover day. Arrival time: no earlier than 4pm. Departure time: no later than 10.30am.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Three bedrooms with double beds, three with twin beds and two single. Fans in all bedrooms, some ceiling, others free-standing. Every bedroom has either a sea or mountain view. |

Towels and linen included and is changed once a week by the cleaner who comes to the house 4 days a week. A cook, at extra cost, can be arranged on request. |

Notes on accommodation
The house has broadband wireless for internet connection and a fax machine. There is a large open fireplace in the sitting room. Also a library of 200 films including cartoons for children.
Outside
One of the features of the house is the large terrace which surrounds it and is planted with olive, pine and lime trees. Here you can eat out either under a pergola of vines or at another table which looks out towards the sea. About 30 chairs of different types. There are outside lights for the evenings both on the terrace and the private swimming pool. Also a ping-pong table, badminton court and a charcoal barbecue.
Coast/Beach
Only five minutes drive from the house is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the Tuscan coast where you can swim right up to the end of October. Extending in a 6 kilometre crescent to the mainland, it has all the beach facilities including bars, restaurants, wind-surfing, water and jet skiing. Behind the beach is a magnificent pine forest with deer and other wildlife. Bicycles can be hired to ride through the forest and one can stop at various places along the way to swim.
Golf
There is an excellent 18-hole championship golf course in a beautiful setting within 10 minutes drive of the house.
Travel
Airports: Pisa is 2 hours drive from the house, Rome Fiumicino 1.5 hours, Rome Ciampino 2 hours.
Distances
Porto Ercole (our local village) five minutes drive, Orbetello (the nearest station) 15 minutes. Further afield but all within reach of the Argentario lie the main Tuscan towns: Siena,home to the famous Palio horse race (1.5 hours), Florence and Orvieto (2 hours) and Tarquinia, home of the Etruscan tombs (45 minutes).
Further details
Porto Ercole is dominated by two 16th century Spanish forts and has a wide variety of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. There are many activities available in the area. At Orbetello (15 minutes from the house) you can go boating on the lagoons. On the other side of the mountain is the village of Porto San Stefano, from where ferries sail daily to the local islands of Giglio and Giannutri. There are several tennis courts nearby and, further away, an hour's drive, are the sulphur springs of Saturnia.
Booking notes
30% of the rent payable on agreement and the balance with a 300 euro returnable deposit for telephone and electricity costs and any breakages 6 weeks before arrival.

I can't begin to tell you what a fantastic time we had at your villa. I did not want to leave. Everything was so sweet and so comfortable. We had such a good time cooking together, watching the sun rise, playing badminton and other things. Loved the town of Porto Ercole. We found our favourite place for cappuccinos and drinks.
