Traditional 17th century house in historic centre of Barga, principal town of the Garfagnana, celebrated for its foods and natural splendour. Vicolo del Duomo is located in a private compound. Its enormous terrace, shaded by grape arbor, boasts an unobstructed vista across the Serchio Valley to the Apuan Alps. The compound includes a large garden, planted with roses, pomegranates, apricots, olives and herbs. The terrace level offers a spacious living area with Tuscan terracotta floors, comfortably appointed living room, kitchen and dining room. A full bathroom is located off a foyer to the rear. The second story has 3 bedrooms, (2 double-bedded, 1 single) and a second full bath. All bedrooms have wood parquet floors and views of the mountains, the village or the Duomo (cathedral). Much of the furnishing is in antique local chestnut. Equipment includes laundry room, fully-outfitted kitchen with stainless steel range and oven, dining service, ironing facilities, towels and linen.

Barga very suitable for children, with restricted automobile access limited to two streets and house enclosed in private compound with garden. No pets, please.
Accessibility
Not adapted to wheelchair use, as all bedrooms are upstairs.

Coastal seaside towns with beaches (Viareggio, Forte di Marmi, Lido di Camaiore) within 45-minute drive. Large municipal pool in Barga.

Within 75-minute drive of both Pisa International Airport and Florence International Airport. Both may also be reached easily via bus or train from Barga.
Distances
Lucca 35km, Pisa 60km. Florence, Pistoia, Siena, Cinque Terre, Porto Venere etc. can be reached in day-trip by auto.
Further details
Barga hosts celebrated jazz and opera festivals in summer. The town and its surrounding region (Lucca and the Garfagnana) are celebrated among Italians for their food and wine, with prices considerably lower than Florence and the Chianti region.
Booking notes
Deposit of 300 euros, or its equivalent, due upon booking, to be returned at end of stay. Full payment due one month before arrival.
Guest comments
80 percent of last year's guests had returned to Vicolo del Duomo for a second or third stay.
