Set in a stunning and very private location in the heart of an undiscovered part of Italy, this house has its own drive and ample parking. On the ground floor the house contains a large living room with a big plasma screen, satellite TV and DVD player. There is an adjoining kitchen and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Although the upstairs is part of the house, it can be used as a self contained flat. It has 3 more bedrooms and two bathrooms, one en-suite. One of the bedrooms has also been designed to be used as an auxiliary sitting room if needed, whilst the third contains two queen sized beds. This floor can be reached by an internal staircase but it also has its own external entrance. This floor also contains its own large kitchen and balcony overlooking the mountains. Outside there is a sheltered barbecue area overlooking the 12x6 metre pool. The house is surrounded by it's own olive grove standing in 20 acres.

Changeover day
The changeover day is is usually Saturday, and we rent out on weekly basis, but we can occasionally we can make an alternative arrangement if required.

Notes on accommodation
Suitable for families. With 5 bedrooms the house sleeps 10 comfortably and has been renovated to the highest standard with all modern facilities.
Accessibility
The ground floor of the property is suitable for wheel chairs with wide doorways to the bathrooms, kitchen etc. There are no steps or obstacles on this floor and although there are steps down to the pool area, these can be circumnavigated.
Outside
There is a sunbathing terrace surrounding the pool. Garden furniture and sunbeds are provided. Overlooking the pool is a dining area with table and chairs for 10. The kitchen and living area also open up onto a covered terrace which is used for barbecues and relaxing.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful sandy beaches of Pineto and Silvi are about a 30 minute drive away.
Golf
There is an excellent golf course 50 minutes drive away.
Skiing
There are 3 ski resorts, the nearest being 50 minutes drive away. The largest being the resort of Rocarasso, 1.5 hours drive.
Travel
Pescara Airport is 40 minutes drive from the house. Flights once a day in Summer and three times a week in Winter. Rome is just over two hours drive. Driving from the UK takes 2 days with overnight stop. Car hire is essential.
Distances
Penne is 7 minutes drive away. This medieval city hosts churches, piazzas, a cathedral, museums as well as banks, supermarkets, cafes etc. The area is full of mountain top towns and villages to explore.
Further details
20 minutes drive away is the snow capped Gran Sasso National Park. Famous for it's rugged wild beauty and its bears, wolves and boar. The parks of Abruzzo, which are the largest in Europe, are open to the public and are a favourite with walkers.
Booking notes
A booking form will be emailed to you following an enquire which should be returned to us within 14 days to secure your reservation with a 20% deposit. The final payment must be received 8 weeks before your rental will start and a security deposit of £250 will be required. The security deposit will be refunded within 14 days of the end of the rental period assuming that no damage has been done to the property.

About the owner
I originally bought my house in Abruzzo to live in permanently. I am a professional artist and was hoping to work there full time. Consequently it was furnished with this intention in mind. Due to changed circumstances I can now only go there at limited times and so rent it out for the majority of the time to offset my expenses.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
I wanted a family sized home that was not overlooked. when I saw the building, which at that time was a ruin, I fell in love with its wonderful position immediately. Apart from the unbelievable panoramic views, it sits on a knoll and is approached from above down a private lane. For me it is the perfect Italian farmhouse that people dream about. Most large houses in the area have small rooms, so I decided to keep the downstairs, which was originally where the animals were kept, as one large living area. this meant extending the house to include a downstairs kitchen. The upstairs I kept very much as the original design as I loved the proportions of the rooms which are situated either side of the corridor with a balcony overlooking the mountains at one end.
Unique benefits of the property
Privacy, wonderful views, spaciousness, the distant view of Penne night and day are all the things I love about the house. As an artist I can escape the pressures of modern living and lose myself in creativity in the haven I have made for myself. When I need exercise i walk round my 20 acres of Olive groves. My land borders a stream that runs off the mountains and I often walk down there and then enjoy the stiff climb back up to the house. On returning I usually plunge into the pool to cool off. All this is available to those who rent my property. The house is beautifully furnished with very comfortable beds.
