This pretty property is set on a quaint cobbled lane in the hillside village of Camporgiano and is within walking distance of a bar, a supermarket and a pharmacy. Restaurants and a swimming pool are within a few minutes drive. The apartment has a large private garden and is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. It is the perfect place to relax and a great base for visiting the nearby treasures of Tuscany such as Pisa, Florence and Lucca. The national parks of Orrechiella and Alpi Apuane are also close by, offering some amazing walking and cycling experiences. The popular sandy beaches of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are just under 2 hours away by car or train. Pisa airport, with car hire pick up, is just under 2 hours drive away. There is a mainline railway station in Camporgiano with connections to all the popular Tuscan towns and cities, and beyond. A twice daily local bus runs from Camporgiano’s main piazza to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, a large market town 10km away.

Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, a typical Tuscan market town, is 10 kms away. Lucca can be reached either by car or train in 1 hour and Florence in 2 hours. Barga is a 30 minute drive and Bagni di Lucca 40 minutes.

The tradition of village festivals in the Garfagnana offers a never ending choice of events throughout the year, celebrating everything from wild boar to chestnuts and maccheroni. Camporgiano itself plays host to the annual Folklore Festival every July, attracting dance troupes and visitors from all around the world.

The Studio Apartment is very modern and clean. The hospitality given to us by the owner was both warm and very helpful without being intrusive. Camporgiano is a very rural village situated in the Tuscany hills with good access for Florence, Pisa and Lucca. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
We had a wonderful time at your little jewel apartment! Total relaxation sitting in your beautiful garden sipping Tuscan wine was just what we needed!

I retired early from a hectic job in London and came to live in this beautiful part of Italy 3 years ago. I enjoy working in the garden and keeping it looking good for my guests!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The Garfagnana has proved to be an excellent location choice, giving us all the stunning scenery you could ever imagine, as well as easy access to beautiful places like Lucca and Florence and the best food, olive oil and wine you've ever tasted! There is a train station 10 minutes walk from the house with trains to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Barga, Lucca, Pisa and Florence. Favourite walks are high up into the chestnut woods in the surrounding hills.
Unique benefits of the property
The house is about 100 years old and in a great position in the centre of the village. The studio apartment was originally the cantina, complete with dirt floor and bare stone walls, where wine and garden produce were stored. The cantina renovation work was completed in 2007 and the transformation is amazing. The space is now bright and airy, with sparkling kitchen and bathroom, and a living area that is fresh and clean with its white ceramic tile floors. The garden has been another labour of love. It started out as a farmer's field with fruit trees, a huge vegetable plot and an array of tumble down buildings housing chickens, rabbits and pigeons, all intended for the dining table! It's now a great place to relax and dine, with a patio, a shady pergola and a barbecue area.
