Diamante and Belvedere are situated in the picture perfect region of Calabria with great weather all year around and an array of Italy's most stunning beaches. The apartment sits between both these delightful towns. Diamante is a historical fishing village situated on a rock full of rustic charm, a pretty and popular beach resort with excellent facilities to eat, drink and shop. One of the many festivals during the Summer is the Chilli Pepper Festival, the hottest event in September! Belvedere features magnificent beaches with a selection of shops and restaurants in the marina area. These scenes are richly complemented by the backdrop of the old town with its dramatic castle and historic church, small square with local cafe bars and restaurants. Truly stunning views. A great location to explore the neighbouring towns and villages with their local markets full of regional produce. Very atmospheric, very Italian. Central to both Belvedere Marittimo and Diamante with its artworks.

Changeover day
Change over can be flexible according to bookings, peak time we ask for departure on time to allow for a thorough valet. You can use our own linen for a hire/laundry cost of £30 for the duration of your stay, sleeps 4/5.

Notes on accommodation
Apartment has full central heating so can be used all year around. Air-conditioning also fitted in both bedrooms and lounge. Outdoor living space runs the full length of the apartment on ground level so great for the long Summer days! Beautiful large BBQ if you want to eat at home! Sorry, no pets. There are also lilos, and beach umbrellas which you are welcome to use. You are welcome to use anything here that makes your holiday special, we just ask that you treat everything as if it were your own, and leave as you would wish to find yourself.
Newly fitted voile curtains to both the master bedroom and lounge, new bed linen for 2010/2011 available to hire.
We have worked hard to keep a high standard of internal decor to the whole apartment including new table ware and some very nice touches throughout to make it a special holiday.
So far, we have been very lucky, people look after everything as if it were there own, which makes it a great place to be.

Accessibility
As the apartment is set on a hillside it has a fairly steep incline and therefore would make accessibility challenging for some people. In our view a car is essential to get the best out of a holiday here exploring the surrounding villages and towns. However if you wish to use the train there is a rail station in Diamante and Belvedere which connects to Lamezia Terme (Airport) Rome and Milan so good accessibility. Naples is also an option, drive down the stunning Amalfi coast a great 3 hour trip
Outside
There is a large terrace at the front of the apartment with fully extendable blinds to maximise outdoor living. It is fully equipped with a stone built barbecue, dining table and 6 chairs, sofa and 2 occasional chairs with coffee table and 2 sun loungers. Outside lighting. Beautiful sea view from the terrace with backdrop of the mountains. Great for an evening aperitif or leisurely lunch. Watch the sun go down into the sea from the terrace, absolutely stunning! Whatever time of the year you decide to go you will not be disappointed with the view. We have had so much great feedback about the gorgeous sunsets we could fill a book with photos!

Coast/Beach
The closest beach of Sabbia D'Oro is just 2 minutes by car at the bottom of the hill. A stunning white sandy beach with a superb beach restaurant with a great reputation. Shaded parking available backs directly onto the beach. Lots of beautiful beaches along this coastline for you to chose from. A car helps get the absolute most from all this coast line has to offer, some great little places to visit, eat shop and sample the local lifestyle. Award winning seafood restaurant right on the beach!
Skiing
The ski resort of Sila Grande, near Cosenza is about 1.5 hours drive away. There are a selection of great hotels in the small exclusive ski area.
Travel
Lots of options, fly into Lamezia Terme 1.25 hours to the apartment by car also great rail link. Or, fly into Naples and experience the stunning Amalfi coast-2.5 hours to Diamante drive. Or, fly into Milan/Rome/Naples and inter connecting flights down to Lamezia Terme. Monarch launched new flights Gatwick to Lamezia Terme direct April 2012 to late October 2012. Ryan Air also fly into Lamezia Terme from Stanstead. AlItalia also offer flights to Lamezia Terme from Heathrow which we find great!
Distances
Belvedere Marittimo-3km. Diamante-1km good train links going North and South in both. Scalea-15km. The larger town of Cosenza is 45 minutes away or Amantea is 1 hour away. The beautiful marina of Maratea is 30 minutes drive. Naples, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast approximately is 2.5 hours. Sicily is accessible via 1 hour Ferry from Falerna Marina 15 minutes from Lamezia Airport. Rome is 4 hours by train from Belvedere or Diamante. There is a natural spa close to Paulo well worth a visit.
Further details
Both Belvedere and Diamante have an array of small local bars, restaurants and shops, including their own markets. Both have stunning beaches with full facilities. They are also well served by pharmacy and bank facilities. Belvedere market is on Wednesday, Diamante market is on Saturday if you enjoy some local shopping!
We enjoyed being part of the Valentines Festival in February 2011 and it was just special; the small convent at the top of Old Belvedere held a special service for couples and it was full of couples of all ages! Such a wonderful time. September is the Chilli Festival, July is the fireworks festival, more festivals than you can list, they seem to celebrate everything in Italy it really is a great local atmosphere.
Local produce is available at various supermarkets in both Diamante and Belvedere. This is a great base to explore from so when planning your holiday consider some of the local places to visit, Amantea and Scalea to name just a couple. Naples is around 3 hours drive north where you can take a drive along the Amalfi Coast and take in other beautiful spots, Sorrento and Ravello for example. Local restaurants specialise in local produce, salad, vegetables and seafood. Some of the best food we have eaten and not over priced. Experience the culture, the wine, the food and the weather a holiday that you will want to repeat. You can find something different, the last holiday (July 2011) we travelled 25 minutes to a natural spa and covered ourselves in the mud before baking in the Sun, what a very different day that was. We also did a boat trip from Prai a Mare which took you into the beautiful 'Grotte' viewing the fish easily through the clear blue waters. If you are more adventurous you can take the pedalo, venture into the caves and do some snorkeling to get an even better view of the fish, exhilarating, exhausting but so worth it.

Provisional booking taken as availability is confirmed. £75 non-refundable deposit at time of booking when contract is returned. Full balance due 10 weeks prior to occupancy with £100 key and damage deposit. Key deposit refundable upon safe return of keys and satisfactory inspection of the apartment. The apartment is strictly no smoking. Cancellation more than 12 weeks full other than booking deposit. Less than 12 weeks notice 20% refund plus deposit. Less than 8 weeks 10% refund plus deposit.

We live in South East England and use our Italian home to completely unwind! You will not find us expensive, we are realistic. Our Italian dream is furnished to a high quality and we frequently have repeat visitors who are now in on the 'Italian Secret'-Diamante. Having just returned from our longest stay yet 16 days, we now have more to add to our useful lists of 'Places to Visit' and 'Places to Eat'. There is an additional list of 'Places to Shop' if you like the Italian Retail Experience! We like to make it as comfortable as possible so there are even lilos, and beach umbrellas, we just ask that you look after everything as if it were your own. Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We chose this coastline because of its natural beauty. Having searched for an overseas property for 2 years we fell in love with Diamante/Belvedere Marittimo in 2 days flat! This is our dream home, all we ask is that you look after it as if it were your own. If you love to explore the opportunities of Italian style at a realistic price my list of 'where to shop' will really appeal to you. Why pay the prices of Rome and Milan when you can find more right on your doorstep at a much more realistic price? The Italian markets are also a delight to explore, we have a planner in the apartment and if you like Italian markets there is one for most days of the week. Shoes, handbags, cheese and chillies, you choose...

Unique benefits of the property. Our terrace is the perfect setting to watch the Sun go down into the sea. It is absolutely stunning and everyone remembers it! Complete that picture with a glass of chilled prosecco in hand. Enjoy! You can walk down to the golden beach of Sabbia D'Oro and there are another 3 restaurants within easy walking distance, they all welcome children at any time of the day. This is a beautiful part of Italy, with lovely people. There are so many places along this beautiful coastline, within easy reach of our place, including stunning Praia a Mare and its 'Grotte' where you can pedalo out to the caves with their clear blue waters and snorkel, or just put your head below the water as we do, to see the little fish swimming below you, a real experience!
