Two Farmhouses in Tuscany with private pools.Situated next to each other but with there own privacy and with fabulous views and only 30 mins north of Lucca. Recently renovated farmhouses (2008) nestling into the hillside, in a slightly elevated terraced position, facing south with stunning views of hills, valley and rooftops. Rich in rustic Tuscan appeal and yet offering all modern comforts, the houses are minutes from the main road and village where there are shops, bar & a very good restaurant. Other restaurants/shops are only 5/10 mins drive away. Access is by a private road which has automatic night time lighting. Ample parking close to houses. The houses offer luxury, and is in lush surroundings.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. Guests are required to vacate the house at 10am. Guests should arrive after 4 pm and before 7.30pm.....after that time by special arrangement

Notes on accommodation
Each house is completely cleaned and beds changed after each occupation.Bathroom towels, bedding, kitchen towel and tea towels are supplied for each change over.
A weekly cleaning service could be arranged upon request if your holiday is for 2 weeks. Payment to be paid directly to cleaner.
The houses are pleasantly cool inside due to stone walls and cotto tiles on all floors. We recommend that all inside window shutters are closed during daytime to help keep the house cool.
Accessibility
Access is by private road which winds its way up the houses through beautiful woodland of natural beauty. which leads to the farmhouses, Parking is in allotted places which are very near to houses.Casa Castagna is slightly elevated with a sloping access and steps to the terrace(not suitabe for wheelchairs) La Polla has easy access from the parking area to the covered terrace house entrance with stairs to each floor(not suitable for wheelchairs)
Outside
At the rear of Casa Castagna is a terrace with 6 wooden loungers and 2 chairs. There is a private circular above ground pool which is 5 metres in diameter, and a portable BBQ. The side terrace which has wonderful views of the hills has an 8 seater wooden table/chairs and parasol. The land behind the house is terraced with an abundance of acacia and chestnut trees.In front there is a secluded lawned garden area .La Polla has a lovely covered terrace in front of the house with dining for 8 and loungers and stunning views.
Coast/Beach
The Versilian coast is a 45 minute drive from Trebbio. Here you will find the beautiful long, white, clean beaches of Forte dei Marmi, Lido di Cameiore, Viareggio where there are wide promenades, cycle paths, parking and many shops, cafes and restaurants.
Golf
Garfagnana - 6 holes approx 40 mins by car. Versilia - 18 holes, par 71, 1 hour by car (very exclusive). Montecatini Terme - 18 holes par 72, 1 hour by car. Vico per lago - driving range, 30 mins by car.
Travel
Nearest airport is Pisa - 1 hour by car. There are several car hire companies at airport, although pre booking is advised. The nearest railway station from Trebbio is 10 minutes by car which leads to Lucca. Here there are trains available to Pisa, Pisa airport and Florence. Pisa town is approx 50 minutes drive away and Florence travelling by car is approx 1 hour.
Distances
The pretty town of Borgo a Mozzano - 15mins drive, here you can see the amazing Ponte dei Maddelana bridge (Devil's bridge). Worth a visit is Bagni di Lucca's thermal springs(20 mins). Barga is 30 mins away and has a tiny traffic free walled city with 13c church. Historic Lucca is 25mins drive-oldest part is inside a hugh medieval wall and has some of Italy's finest Renaissance architecture. Visit Collodi-birthplace of Pinoccio's author and home to the beautiful Villa Garzoni and gardens.
Further details
The local villages of Trebbio and Piegaio are app. 10/15 minutes walk from house. Here you will find 2 grocery shops, chemist, butchers, police station, bar and a very good, reasonably priced restaurant. There are 2 other restaurants approx 5 mins drive away, and other restaurants a little further. There are 2 supermarkets - one 15 mins by car and one 20 minutes by car. Activities in and around area are tennis, fishing, sightseeing and walking.
Booking notes
30% deposit required at time of booking. Balance of cleared funds due 8 weeks before arrival date, plus £250 refundable damage deposit. Should no damage occur, the damage deposit will be returned after 14 days of departure from Casa Castagna or La Polla or both. Payment by bank transfer or cheque only.
