Garden

Alma is a villa located in the pinewood of Calaliberotto. Fitting local style the windows and verandas are framed by granite stones. It is surrounded by a garden well established with the typical Sardinian flora: from the shady pine trees, to scenting oleander and myrtle. The nearest beach is 100m away by a nice walk under the pines. Many others at easy walking distance. For an aerial view, look at Google Earth (Villa Alma coordinates: 40° 26’ 12.51’’ North, 9°46’ 43.26’’ East). Villa Alma is shared out between two apartments only (both on 2 floors) each with a big garden: the east facing is for personal use only and not for rent, the west facing is for my guests. This choice is rare near the sea: people prefers to exploit to the utmost their property. The privacy is perfect: even the entrance to the garden is separate (there are 2 gates). In the garden all the facilities are duplicated: you have your own shower, wash board, clothes line, parking lot.

Coast/Beach
Beaches are not a scarce resource in Sardinia. In the coastline from Villa Alma to the north direction there are at least 20km of beaches : many, in my opinion, (but not only mine) superb. The sand is white and very fine grained, the slope gentle: a perfect place for children. In sunny days, when a light breeze blows from the mountains, the sea displays unbelievable colours. The structure of the beaches is garland like, with rocks at the left and right side.

Travel
Olbia Costa Smeralda International airport 70km. Olbia Port 75km. Alghero Fertilia International airport 190km. Car recommended.

Further details
Sardinia, the second largest island placed in the midst of the Mediterranean, is one of the most beautiful places in the world. With over 1800 Km of coastline and its wild landscapes attracts many visitors from all the Europe. The sun shines all year long, the weather is mild with an average of ten degrees centigrade in winter. Local cuisine, very different from the other regions of Italy, has the scent of charcoal and the aromatic flavours of myrtle and juniper. The island produces also superb grapes and renowned wines as Cannonau, intense red color, or Vermentino, pale yellow. The first vivid impression after landing is the perfume of Mediterranean shrub: this largely unspoilt region is a dream for nature lovers. “Extraordinary how the healthy, moor-like hills come near the sea extraordinary how scrubby and uninhabited the great spaces of Sardinia are. It is wild, with heath and arbutus scrub and a sort of myrtle, breast-high. Sometimes one sees a few head of cattle. And then again come the greyish arable-patches, where the corn is grown. It is like Cornwall, like the Land's End region.” - D.H.Lawrence, 'Sea and Sardinia'

Cala Liberotto is a small enclave in the gulf of Orosei (east coast of Sardinia). The gulf 's morphology offers a rich variety of forms: from long beaches of finest sand, to cliffs of pink rocks, bordered by pinaster, juniper and myrtle. The sea is crystal clear with turquoise nuance. The place is calm, ideal for family or rest. Orosei has also an interesting historical centre and nuragic ruins, enigmatic conic buildings of the megalithic period. The gulf of Orosei, that will soon turn into a sea park, is the perfect image of an island full of nature.

The wild region around the gulf, where you can find the wild boar, is attractive for hikers, nature lovers and rock climbers. Some inaccessible beaches of the gulf are connected by regular boat trips from Orosei and Cala Liberotto. Crystal clear waters are a paradise for scuba divers.

I'd like to let you know what a wonderful time we had. Cala Liberotto was a lovely place and the beaches were superb. The villa was just as I'd hoped and your hospitality was much appreciated. We went to several of the places that you recommended. The beaches at Bide Rosa were probably some of the best beaches we have ever seen, very quiet and picturesque. It was certainly one of the most relaxing holidays we've had and we loved Sardinia very much. Once again thank you very much for introducing us to Sardinia. Nick W.

Thank you for such a lovely holiday in your villa. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed the house, the beautiful beaches and the friendly people, and were very impressed with the Sardinian scenery. Hopefully we shall be able to come to Sardinia again in the future. Elizabeth I.

We very much enjoyed staying at your house this summer and I apologise for not writing to thank you for what was a very calming but absolutely superb holiday.
