Menaggio is situated in the middle of the western shore of the lake and because of its central position between the lake and the mountains it is an ideal starting point for any sort of excursion. Our 1 bedroom apartment is located in a small condominium complex, set in its own grounds, situated on the hillside overlooking Menaggio and the lake. It is located on the 1st floor and has 1 double/twin-bedded bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge, bathroom, private balcony with patio table and chairs with views over the lake and private gardens. From 3 day booking. You can enjoy free wine with your meals at our favorite restaurants and, once you have booked, we will send you lots of local information to help you plan ahead and get the most out of your holiday.

Changeover day
Flexible to suit you, but Saturday preferred. Arrivals from 2pm. Departures before 10am on leaving date.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with twin beds (which can be put together to make double), wardrobe, dressing table, drawer units and bedside tables. Room fan.
Bathrooms: Shower, toilet, bidet and sink with illuminated mirror, drawer units, hair dryer, towel rail and washing machine.
Kitchen: Fully equipped kitchen with hob, extractor fan, fridge, toaster, crockery, glasses, cutlery and cooking equipment etc.
Living Rooms: Lounge area leading onto balcony consisting of comfortable sofa, armchair, coffee table, drawer, cupboard units, TV, DVD player, CD player and radio. Good selection of DVDs, CDs and books. Dining table and chairs.

Not suitable for young children. Sorry we do not accept pets. No smoking in the apartment. Breathtaking Lake & Mountain Views 10 mins walk to Menaggio.

Outside
The apartment is situated on the first floor in its own private grounds with electronically operated security gates with its own private garage for parking. There are 2 balconies, front (lake and south facing) and rear, having the benefits of both lake and mountain views.

Coast/Beach
The pretty town of Menaggio is only 10 minutes walk away and boasts an attractive lakeside promenade and central piazza, often with entertainment at weekends. There is a public beach in Menaggio and pool/beach facilities at the newly refurbished Lido which also has a restaurant and bar.

Golf
The 18 hole par 70 Menaggio and Cadenabbia Golf Club is 2 miles away on the road to Lugano. The Club accepts players able to produce evidence of an existing club membership elsewhere. The Club also has an excellent restaurant, open to the public.

Skiing
Madessimo is under one hour away and St. Moritz around 90 minutes.

Travel
Choice of 3 airports, Malpensa, Linate, Bergamo Orio al Serio. Travel time by car for all airports is around 90 minutes. Regular train & bus service from Milan to Como or Bergamo to Varenna. Ryanair, Easyjet, Flybe, Jet2 and the major airlines all fly into Milan. Bus service from Como to Menaggio. Boat service from Como to Menaggio, Varenna to Menaggio. Taxi information available upon request. Car hire is not essential. It is very easy & relaxing to take the ferry or bus to explore the lake.

Distances
1½ hour from Bergamo, Malpensa and Linate Airports by car. Passenger / car ferry boats are frequent throughout the day and evening for travelling around the lake. Car ferry operates between Menaggio, Varenna and Bellagio. Lake Lugano, nestling between Italy and Switzerland, is only 20 minutes drive. Monza Grand Prix circuit is 70 minutes drive.

Further details
The Sonenga condominium enjoys a tranquil position with breathtaking lake and mountain views. Your neighbours will be mainly Italian, either permanent residents or who have holiday homes here. Once you are settled in you can relax on the balcony, taking in the views, sunbathe, read etc. and with so many wonderful locations within striking distance, you can use our apartment as a base to explore on foot or by car, bus, ferry or train. Or a combination of all.

There are many beautiful villas and gardens to visit, such as the Villa Carlotta which is only 10 minutes drive away or Villa Melzi in Bellagio, especially in spring when the rhododendrons and azelias out.

If you are a keen walker or mountain biker, there are some fantastic routes close by. Details of these can be found in the apartment or at the local Tourist Information office.

All the usual water sports are readily available around the lake with skiing just over an hour away and an excellent golf course 10 minutes drive away. In the centre of town there are all services including interesting shops, restaurants and bars, banks, supermarket, internet point, cinema, pharmacy and post office. Sports facilities include tennis, golf, mountain biking, water skiing, boat hire, sailing, wind and kite surfing, scuba diving, fishing, hiking, horse riding, kayak hire etc.

Street markets are held at different local towns throughout the week, Menaggio is currently Friday and Porlezza (20 minutes away on Lake Lugano) on Saturdays.

There is an interdenominational church at Cadenabbia Sunday services are in English from May until September.

You will be able to check out local amenities and events, ferry timetable, restaurants and shops in the information pack we have made for the apartment. The local tourist information centre is also excellent and has internet connection.

Booking notes
A deposit of 25% of rental price is required to secure the booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before date of arrival.
£200 security deposit returned after our agents have inspected the property. There is a final cleaning/laundry charge of 50 euros payable locally to our agents.

About the owner
In 2005 we purchased our 2 bedroom apartment as a family holiday home, and to help fund it, we decided to rent it out for part of the year. Our family have enjoyed it so much that when another apartment came up for sale in 2008, we decided to buy it. We now regularly host family gettogethers in Sonenga using both apartments.
