From airport to gin and tonic or dip in the pool, could be no more than 30 minutes away! You will leave the E45 at the Pierantonio turn off and head into the countryside, taking a quiet road used mainly by the local farmer and Italian cyclists, you will turn into the pine tree-lined drive taking you to the hamlet of Rancale which nestles into the hillside of undulating woodland. La Torre is the most easterly of these beautiful recently restored buildings dating back some 300 years and enjoys sunshine throughout the whole day. The completed renovation project is a labour of love and a home from home for visitors. There is a good sized shared swimming pool with non-slip tiled area around, sunbeds for lounging and shade provided by what used to be an animal shed. For the more active there is an all-weather tennis court (rackets available). Internally the house benefits from terracotta tiled floors throughout, bright, spacious, well-equipped rooms and many character features.

Changeover day is Saturday/Sunday but can be flexible if availability allows.

Notes on accommodation
Children are very welcome at La Torre but the property has not been child-proofed so not especially suitable for toddling children.
Accessibility
Not suitable for people with mobility problems, not constructed to cater for wheelchair users. Accommodation arranged over 3 floors.
Outside
The house has windows that face east, south and west with the garden/patio facing predominantly south and west. Laid mainly to lawn with olive and cypress trees, some planted beds, pergola over the patio. Situated on a slightly elevated position the shared heated pool 14.5m x 4.5m with terracotta tiled area around, sunbeds and pool house enjoy a view of the rest of the grounds. Shared all-weather tennis court (tennis rackets available).
Coast/Beach
Lake Trasimeno is about 30 mins by car where there are numerous beaches and water sports available. There are 3 islands on the lake that can be visited by taking a boat cruise. Restaurants/eating places are situated on the waterfront.
Golf
Antognolla Golf Club, a stunning 18 hole Trent Jones championship course, with driving range, practice green, bar and club house is about 3kms from La Torre.
Travel
Nearest airport is 30 mins - Perugia International Airport, direct flights from London Stansted Ryanair. Other airports are Ancona 1hr/30 mins, Florence 2hrs, Pisa 2hr/20 mins, Bologna International 2hr/30 mins, Rome 2hr/30 mins.
Distances
Pierantonio, nearest small town 5 mins by car. Umbertide, the bustly local market town 10 mins drive. Perugia, the main city of the region is 30 mins away.
Further details
Excellent choices of local restaurants starting at approx 3kms and also within easy reach of Niccone Valley for stunning scenery and restaurants. Drive into Perugia is beautiful and takes about 30 mins. Lovely walks locally along River Tiber.
Booking notes
To confirm the booking a non-refundable deposit of £300 will be taken. Balance required 6 weeks before rental period when cheque for £300 will also be taken to cover for any accidental damages that may occur. This will be held until after departure and then returned should there be no damages.

August 2009 - Melanie & Stephen Ottaway. We had a fab holiday, Rancale was great, a fantastic setting. The accommodation was super, very well equipped. House was clean & tidy on arrival. The a/c was essential & much appreciated with daytime temperatures over 40c on some days. This was our first trip to Italy & we would definitely visit again & recommend La Torre to our friends.
