Originally a Casa Padronale, Villa Bastiola is situated on the hillside at Comunaglia in Umbria, on the border with Tuscany, with stunning views over the surrounding hills and valleys. The first floor of the villa has been beautifully restored providing luxury self catering accommodation for 2 or 4 guests. There are 2 en suite bedrooms, a large living room & fully fitted kitchen, outside veranda, courtyard and gardens with olive grove. Stunning views from the sun terrace in the garden, perfect for relaxing at the end of a days sightseeing or dining alfresco. The apartment has retained many of the original features including ancient chestnut and oak beams, terracotta flooring over two hundred years old, and a pietra serena fireplace and wardrobe. Great base for those seeking to experience the rich culture, regional cuisine, vineyards, medieval hilltop towns and countryside that this stunning region of Italy has to offer. Assisi, Gubbio, Cortona, Perugia are all close by.

Excellent family run trattoria 3 minutes walk from apartment. Trestina town (10 minutes drive) has supermarkets, banks, greengrocers, fashion shops, jewellers etc. Fantastic coffee shop serving the best coffee, cakes and snacks in the area only 5 mins drive from the apartment.

About the owner
I moved to Umbria in 2003 for work and loved the area so much that I stayed here! Starting a new life, I also met my husband Marco here and together we bought Villa Bastiola which we have been restoring over the last few years. Together with our little girl Emma, now 4, we are really happy to have the opportunity to rent out the luxury apartment, giving us the chance to meet guests from all over the world.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We bought Villa Bastiola as it is near to the area where Marco grew up and is close to his family and Emma's grandparents! We wanted to find an old stone farmhouse with lots of character, great views, lots of garden, olive trees but still close to amenities and easy to reach the beautiful towns and cities of Umbria and Tuscany. We were lucky! Villa Bastiola is just what we wanted!
Unique benefits of the property
The apartment provides the perfect accommodation for guests looking to visit the medieval villages and hilltop towns of Umbria and Tuscany. Cortona, Siena, Perugia, Montone, Gubbio, Assisi, Spoleto, Sansepolcro are all within an easy drive of the apartment.
The garden has a lovely terrace looking out over the panorama, perfect for relaxing after a long day sightseeing.
Just down the hill (3 mins walk!) is a great trattoria/pizzeria which means that our guests don't have to self cater if they don't want too. They can simply walk down to the restaurant and don't have to worry about driving home.
