Casa Piona with it's stunning lake views is 10 mins from the village of Colico which is situated at the foot of Monte Legnone and set around a fabulous marina; Colico has an excellent choice of restaurants and water sports. It is easy to travel around the lake from here, by car or boat, visiting some of the beautiful sites and places of interest; e.g. the stunning town of Bellagio is accessible by ferry from nearby Varenna. There is a direct train to Milan from Colico. There is a good selection of shops, supermarkets and a street market every Sunday morning. Ski resorts of Madesimo is a 70 minute drive away or take a trip to the elegant Swiss town of St Moritz, 1hr 25mins by car, taking in the beautiful scenery of the Maloya pass en route.

Outside
There is a large garden patio with outdoor furniture ideal for outdoor dining and sun bathing. There is a swimming pool at the nearby hotel which is available to guests for a nominal daily fee.
Coast/Beach
There are some beaches for the sun worshipers around the lake, closest one to Casa Piona is 5 min by car.
Skiing
The nearest Ski Resort is Madessimo 70 drive. Madesimo's has an excellent ski school, reasonable priced. Madesimo is best suited to intermediate skiiers with around 50km of runs, although there are a few nice nursery slopes for beginers. Forthe expert skiiers there is the challenge of the famous 'Canalone' piste. St Moritz is accessible too, slightly further at 1 hour 25 mins.
Travel
Milan airports (Linate & Malpensa) and Bergimo airport (Ryan Air) are similar distance from Colico (1hr 25mins) but the most direct is Bergimo. Car hire is essential but is convenient and very good value.
Distances
The nearest village of Colico is a 10 minute drive. Abbazia di Piona is a lovely walk from the house or 10 min by car .Bellagio is accessible by ferry from nearby Varenna, 20 min drive. St Moritz is 1hr 25 mins by Car. Milan Centrale is 1½ hour direct train from Colico. Boat trips to Lecco and Como from Colico.
Further details
There are lots of water activities in Colico and surrounds. It is easy to hire a small boat to tour the lake by water viewing some of the sites and places of interest on the lake The famous 11th century Abbey of Piona (Abbazia di Piona),one of the most popular tourist attractions of the lake, is within walking distance of the house. The Mountains, include the elegant Swss town of St. Moritz, is just over an hours drive away. There is a regular direct train from Colico to Milan.
