La Camelia is a restored Tuscan farmhouse constructed in the 1800 hundreds using local stone and an abundance of chestnut beams. The setting is rural but only a few minutes from local restaurants, serving the best pastas imaginable. The seaside resorts of Viareggio and Forti dei Marmi are about 30 mins by car. The owner lives in the property most of the year so it is properly maintained and she is always nearby to help if needed. A key feature is the cascading swimming pool with a separate shallow pool for children. There are also slides and swings and the surrounding gardens are on level ground making the property particularly suitable for young children. There are two poolside eating areas with a BBQ and working pizza oven for those so inclined! There is covered parking and an easy level gravel road off the main tarmac country road. La Camelia sleeps up to 12 people with 4 double bedrooms and one with twin beds and 2 bunk beds. There are 4 bathrooms.

Also includes ping-pong table area and play loft area over barn. Secluded, quiet and private. Surrounding area offers lovely walks and views.
Coast/Beach
La Camelia is a 30 minute drive to the closest beach of Lido di Camaiore and 40 minutes from the famous resort town of Forte dei Marmi. Also within 30-35 minutes is the functioning port of Viareggio where boat trips to nearby islands and the Cinque Terre can be found. If preferred, it is 1.30 minute drive to the Cinque Terre or a pleasant train ride from Viareggio or La Spezia.
Travel
A car hire is essential. The nearest airport of Pisa is a 40 minute drive away and a 50 minute drive to the Florence airport. The closest bus stop is 2km away. The nearest town is San Martino in Freddana, a 5 minute drive where there are other buses to Lucca and Camaiore. The closest train station is in the city of Lucca where trains can be taken to Florence, Pisa and Viareggio.
Distances
The nearest town is San Martino in Freddana, a 5 minute drive also there are several charming villages within a 5-10 minute drive from the house and some within a pleasant walking distance of 30-60 minutes. Day trips to Cinque terre, San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra and the Carara mountains are easily accessible, Florence is also an hour drive away, Pisa 40 minutes and also of interest are Vinci, Montecatini and Barga.

The closest shops can be found in the town of San Martino in Freddana a 5 minute drive. There you can find local food shops, post office, pharmacy, bank, newsagent, restaurants, pizzeria, petrol station, supermarket and bus stops. The closest train station is in Lucca with connections to Florence, Pisa and the coast.
