The holiday house is located in the Chianti village of San Casciano in Val di Pesa. Facing the open country from a dominant position, it offers the comforts of a town life and the beauty of the country landscape opening on hills with vineyards and olive trees. We owners live in a near farmhouse in the same property and are able to speak English. The holiday house is finely furnished in Tuscan country style. Our cottage is the ideal place for those who want to enjoy a Tuscan village life and move away to visit Florence and other tourist places. It is available a frequent and fast bus service from San Casciano (bus stop at 750 metres) to Florence historic centre (15km). From our cottage you can walk to some good restaurants and pizzerias. Car parking is not a problem as we have a private parking lot inside the property, two parking spaces are reserved for our guests. Self catering accommodation. Unmetered high speed Internet connection and modem+router Wi-Fi b/g/n are included.

Notes on prices
Discounts are given for long lets. Price includes: linen and towels, unlimited usage broadband Internet connection (ADSL), water, weekly cleaning, cleaning at departure except the kitchen sink. Price does not include: electricity (0.35 eur/kW*h), gas/heating (0.8 eur/m3). Security deposit to be paid cash on arrival: 250 euros for one week, 500 euros for longer periods. It's returned at your departure.
Changeover day
Changeover day is usually on Saturday, exceptions can be made for last minute deals, during low season or for long stays (one month or more). Arrival from 16:00, departure before 10:00.

Notes on accommodation
House is not suitable for small children as there are stairs. Air-conditioning system has been installed in March 2010 in both the bedrooms.

Pisa Airport is connected to Florence by several trains. There is a frequent public coach service from Florence central train station (Santa Maria Novella) to San Casciano in Val di Pesa (bus arrivals/departures at 700m from our home).

San Casciano in Val di Pesa is a Chianti village with many shops that sell local products, some banks, a big supermarket and excellent restaurants. The surrounding area is famous for the production of excellent wines and high quality extra virgin olive oil. Our guests can reach local shops and restaurants without having to take the car.
A public olympic swimming pool is just 2km from the property.
Booking notes
Payment by bank transfer or Paypal (secure credit card payment). 30% at reservation, the rest 45 days before arrival. Security deposit to be paid cash upon arrival, 250 or 500 euros depending on the length of your stay. Will be returned back after we have inspected the house.

About the owner
My husband and I are both Tuscan. We moved here from Florence some years ago, we bought a portion of a big old property, restored it and since 2007 we have rented the converted barn to tourists willing to spend some days living a true Tuscan experience. We live in a different building in the same property, a restored farmhouse. We have several olive trees from which we produce extra virgin olive oil for our needs and our friends. I graduated in foreign languages so I can speak English and French. We know our region in its different aspects and would be pleased to inform you about places, historical towns, food, special events and so on.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
San Casciano is very close to Florence, so near that you can reach Porta Romana (the south entrance to historical centre, where only authorized cars can enter) in 20 minutes by car. San Casciano is connected to Florence by both a dual carriageway and an old winding road (Via Cassia). San Casciano in Val di Pesa is not a grey city suburb, it is a countryside village in the Chianti area, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. Since old times wealthy Florentine families used to build villas to escape from town, so in the surroundings you can see historical villas dating back to the renaissance time. The village has got many shops and restaurants and from our property you can reach them without using a car.

The holiday house is a detached and independent building, sits in a dominant position with no building in front. Quite unusual condition for a house in the centre of a village. There is a frequent coach line to Florence centre (departures at about 700 metres from the house), ticket price is 2.10 euro, weekly ticket is 17 euro, trip takes 35 minutes (it ends in the heart of Florence, so you won't have to ask where to get down).
