Syraka apartment offers a very elegant and comfortable accommodation. It is just a few meters away from the sea, where it is possible, in summertime, to sun-bathe on the rocks, to swim and deep-dive. The stable is situated nearby the Grecian Apollo's temple, the Duomo square, Archimede square, the Bellomo museum, the mythological Aretusa fountain, the characteristic market of Ortigia where you can walk through the picturesque colours, the typical perfumes and sounds of the genuine Sicilian life. In 20 minutes, on foot, you can also reach the archaeological museum Paolo Orsi, the Catacombe of S. Giovanni and the unforgettable archaeological park with the Greek theatre. Ortigia is 30km from Noto, 73km from Modica, 83km from Scicli UNESCO World Heritage sites with the finest collection of Baroque buildings in Italy.

Notes on accommodation
Air conditioning which also acts as a heater, has now been installed. A land line telephone is available, accepting incoming calls only unless prior arrangements made. Personal computer and ADSL access is available. Extra bed or cot available.
Accessibility
My property is not suitable for wheelchair users because there is no lift to go up to the second floor.

Little private terrace, with old town view, where you can make barbecue.
Coast/Beach
150m from the sea, where is possible, in summertime, to sun-bathe on the rocks, to swim and deep-dive. In the summer you can also enjoy the boat shuttle service leading you , in few minutes, to our beautiful sandy beach 'Punta Pero'. Moreover by bus or car you can reach beautiful sandy beaches, such as Fontane Bianche, Arenella, Ognina, Pineta del Gelsomineto or natural sea reserve 'Plemmirio'.
Golf
From Syraka apartment you can reach the Picciolo Golf Club in Castiglione di Sicilia within 1h 30 min drive. The beautiful 18 holes are among oaks, hazels and vineyards.
How to get there: From the motorway A-18 Catania-Messina take the Fiumefreddo di Sicilia exit; then follow the S.S. 120 direction: Piedimonte Etneo, Linguaglossa, Randazzo. After 800 mts from the turning for Castiglione di Sicilia, on the left there are 2 big pine trees.
Skiing
From Syraka apartment you can easely reach Etna ski lifts (Nicolosi, Piano Provenzana) within 1h and 30 min drive (100/120 km).
Travel
Catania Airport is 50 km from Syracuse. It's also noteworthy the easily accessible location: from Archimedes Square you can get the shuttles to car parks and to railway station and bus station (2 km); use of car is not necessary.
Distances
Barocco towns and 'Commissario Montalbano' places: Noto (30 km), Modica (73 km), Scicli (83 km), Ragusa Ibla (93). Very interesting natural places: Pantalica necropolis (51 km), Fonte Ciane (8 km), Vendicari natural park (50 km), Etna vulcano (110 km), Taormina (118 km).

'The location was right in the middle of Ortigia. We were able to reach the sea, the marina, shops, bars, restaurants, etc. within minutes. The air-conditioned apartment was a saviour, to overcome the heat of the day. The Kitchen was fully equipped and spacious, with a ceramic cooker and oven. In the bedroom the bed was extremely comfortable, with beautiful linen and indipendent air-conditioning. The lounge was huge and newly furnished with a table for six and a sofa. The Tv was a 32 inch flat screen HD (an unusual sight in an italian rented apartment). The owners met us at the bus station and were extremely helpful and friendly. One could not ask for more.' Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We are not from Syracuse but have really fallen in love with it because of the location. There are precious gems of and of Greek and baroque architecture, beautiful beaches, great range of bars and restaurants. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Catania airport less than an hours drive away.
