In Abruzzo, overlooking the Adriatic, close to the region's many golden beaches. The villa is situated on the coastline where you find the protected Trabocchi - wooden fishing huts built on stilts. There is a lovely seafood restaurant a few minutes walk from the house and a mile away from San Vito marina. The port of Ortona and the medieval city of Lanciano are 20 minutes away, as is the stunning Benedictian Abbey of St Giovanni in Venere. There is also an open air pool and tennis courts within 15 minutes drive, golf 40 mins, and the region's famous water park in Vasto. The area plays host to numerous traditional festivals often involving wonderful Italian specialities and live music. Within easy reach are the Apenine mountains and the Maiella National park where there are plenty of beautiful walks, mountain bike riding, and horse riding. In the winter there is skiing at Passo Lanciano and Roccarasso. Rome is 2.5 hours away. Pescara Airport 40 minutes.

Changeover day
Changeover day is flexible. The villa will be available from 5pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11 noon on the day of departure in the absence of any special arrangements.

Very family friendly, central heating provided at no extra charge. Fans in all bedrooms for the summer months.
Accessibility
Children all ages welcome, unsuitable for elderly or infirm, wheelchair inaccessible, pets not allowed. House accessible from garage up steep wide path.
Outside
Large balcony with outstanding sea views off bedroom 1 and 2 with table and chairs and sun loungers. Extensive terrace to sides and front of detached villa with large table and chairs under pergola, hammock and additional sun-beds. Barbecue area to side of house.
Coast/Beach
There is an amazing natural cove below the house which is lovely for swimming and snorkeling. At San Vito beach is only five minutes drive from the villa. There is a trabocchi traditional fishing platform which juts out into sea) on the pier that you walk along, sandy beach and facilities open all year round. The golden beaches of Le Morge are 15 minutes from the house and there are boat rides out to the Tremeti Islands nearby with fishing and diving.
Golf
Pescara Golf Club around 40 mins from the house. 18 holes built in 1992. The men's tee has 72 Par.
Skiing
The resort of Passo Lanciano is less than an hours drive from the house which has very good motorway links. Top, 1891 metres, it has 2 green runs, 15 blue, 9 red and black runs offering a mix of wooded and open skiing for all abilities. Two ski schools. The larger, sophisticated resort of Roccaraso is an hour and half from the villa and holds world cup and Olympic events and has swimming, ice-skating and bowling too.
Travel
Rome is 2 hours drive from the house. Pescara Airport is 40 minutes with cheap flights on Ryanair, mid-week flights on a Wednesday are particularly cheap. Car hire is essential.
Distances
San Vito Marina is five minutes from the house with a chose of restaurants and cafes and beach. The medieval city of Lanciano is 20 minutes drive. Aqualand at Vasto - a must for any family is 40 mins away. Majella and Abruzzo National Parks with their outstanding walks are within easy reach. Swimming pool and local tennis courts are 15 minutes away. Beautiful monastery of San Giovanni in Venere five minutes and great bus and train services to Rome for a day trip to the Capital.
Further details
There is a wonderful seafood restaurant 2 minutes walk from the villa. The town of Ortona is 10 minutes away with banks, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. The local village has butchers, bakers and gellateria!
Booking notes
A non-refundable deposit of 30% is required at the time of booking. The balance should be paid 6 weeks prior to the start of the holiday. An additional breakage deposit of £300 is also required at the time of booking. This shall be immediately returned at the end of the booking period if no damage has occurred.

About the owner
About the owner: I live in London, England with my husband and two children and our cat Tigerlilly. I gave up my job with the BBC recently to renovate our house in Italy and spend more time with my kids, Cara (7) and Max (9). My husband works as a lawyer. We spend most our holidays in Italy where we have many friends and have fallen in love with the country.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We love travelling to San Vito because it is as old town with a lovely warm atmosphere with incredible views of the Adriatic. There is nothing nicer than getting up in the morning - opening the shutters and seeing the breathtaking view of the sea. We were bored with sitting round pools in hilltop villages and wanted to spend our holidays beside the sea. The local town is typically Italian and hasn't been taken over by tourists. We are one of the few "foreign" families living in the area. When we stay at the house we feel we are experiencing the real Italy, with fantastic food and wine and a truly relaxing atmosphere.
Unique benefits of the property
The house has the benefit of being beside the sea but also only one hour's drive from a ski resort at Passo Lanciano and Roccoraso where we ski as much as possible. These resorts are less crowded and cheaper - very like Austria was twenty years ago. There are also wonderful walks along the coast and in the hills behind the villa. You don't have to get into your car you can walk down to the cove below the house and escape the crowds of many other places in Italy.
