House Mariuccia is born from the restructuring of a part of the ancient residence of family, completely furnished respecting the canons and the style that it countersigns the typical residence Garfagnina, situated in the heart of Garfagnana, the mountainous zone of the province of Lucca, precisely in the place Prunecchio, 2km from the small suburb of Chiozza. The residence is the ideal place whether to spend weeks of relax, absorbed in the green of the hills that overhang the capuoluogo Garfagnino, altitude 700 meters, with splendid panoramic views. In front of you the Pania Secca, principal mountainous chain of the Apuane Alps, dominates all the valley. Here the perfumes, the tastes and the sounds are still those of the past times, the mobilia, the trusses to the ceiling and the fireplace are all original ones of the epoch and give an unusual charm to the residence. Speaking about Garfagnana everybody's thought goes from the verdant pastures, to the sour peaks of the Alps Apuane or to the most delicate shapes of the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano. Our porky mushroom is a natural product of great quality that's spontaneously born in the woods that cover our valley, it's a fundamental element in our traditional kitchen. In an uncontaminated and protected environment as this... the cows, the sheeps and the goats give their milk for the production of high quality cheeses. Among the typical products we signal the FARRO I.G.P of the Garfagnana, la Farina of NECCIO D.O.P. (sweet flour that's born from the grinding of the chestnuts, previously dried for 40 days in particular constructions called "metati"). It's used for doing a particular polenta, the castagnaccio and pancakes. (During the two wars of the '900 have been the food that has allowed the survival of the local populations).

11km far - Museo Etnografico di S.Pellegrino in Alpe: Prepared in the ancient medieval hospice of St Pellegrino, it was open to the public in 1970 with the name of "Museum of the Country and yesterday's life", to the purpose to testify the rural civilization of the Valley of the Serchio and the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano.
20km far - La Grotta del Vento: Situated in the centre of the Apuan Alps' Natural Park, this is one of the most complete European caves, presenting an extraordinary variety of phenomena which are outlined with competence and precision by expert speleological guides.
18km far - Natural Park of Orecchiella: is a protected area composed from imposing forests of beech tree, chestnut tree and firs. Today populated still by numerous kinds of wild animals as wolf appenninico, bucks, mufloni and wild boars. The skies are dominated from rapacious like the hawk and the royal eagle.
25km far - Worthy of mention is certainly the Lake of Vagli that hides a country risen in 1200. "Fabbriche di Careggine" abandoned by the 150 inhabitants reappear every 10 years from the water recalling the attention of thousand of tourists that visiting the very beautiful and ghostly country, an appointment that cannot be missed.
