This superb, spacious 3 bedroom apartment has been recently (2008) renovated and furnished to an extremely high standard. It has full air conditioning to all rooms, and balcony access from all rooms. Beaches, shops, restaurants, historic medieval centre and marina are all within a 5 -10 mins walk, depending on your pace. There is parking below the apartment, but no car is required to reach all that Tropea has to offer. Please ask to see the comments in our Visitors Book for 2008.

Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. All prices include gas, water, power. Final Clean and Linen is £50 per stay Full air-conditioning is £50 per week (recommended June/July/August). Please ask for visitor book comments.

Changeover day is flexible but Friday is preferable.

Kitchen: Stylish and functional new kitchen with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, gas hob, oven, cooker hood, breakfast bar, kettle and toaster.
Utility Room: Shower, WC, utility sink, washing machine, ironing board and iron.
Living Rooms: Spacious open plan living and dining area. 6-piece dining table and chairs, stylish and comfortable sofas, one of which is a double sofa bed, soft lighting, large flat screen TV with many satellite channels, DVD player.
Other: Balconies on both sides of the apartment, 1 with barbecue. Smoking is permitted on the balconies (only).
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Linen, bathroom towels, gas, electric, water, are included within the price.
Final clean is £ 50 per stay, Air-con is £ 50 per week (recommended June, July and August).

Accessibility
This property is at top and third floor level and therefore may not be suitable for some people with disability impairments.

Outside
The sea may be seen from both balconies. There is also a mountain view from one balcony.

Coast/Beach
An exceptional beach (voted Europe's best beach 2009 by Sunday Times) is within five minutes walk, together with Lido facilities (a small fee buys you an umbrella, a table, seats and waiter service for drinks and snacks). There are many other beaches within walking distance and overcrowding is usually not a problem.

Golf
The Feudo Montalto Golf Club is located in Limbadi, which is only a 20-minute drive south from Tropea.

Skiing
There is a slope about a 2 hour drive away.

Travel
Tropea is 45 mins by car or rail from Lamezia Airport. Car Hire is available at the Airport, and the route to Tropea is simple and scenic. If you wish to take the train, there are always taxis at Lamezia airport and you will need to take a taxi from the Airport to the railway station (2km). We highly recommend the train! Tropea railway station to the apartment is a ten minute walk. Full directions and local taxi numbers are provided when booking. Our key holder will meet you on arrival.

Distances
It is not essential to hire a car for a holiday in Tropea, but there is Car Hire facility close to the apartment if you want a car for a few days. There are buses to Vibo, trains to Pizzo and Reggio Calabria and there are other places of interest within a short taxi ride. Capo Vaticano is a local beauty spot, and the more adventurous may wish to visit Sila National Park (approximately two hours).

Further details
The Tourist Information office in the centre has helpful, English speaking staff and details of all current events, boat trips, timetables etc. A popular trip is the Aeolian Islands and Stromboli at night. There is an Information Pack at the apartment, with much more detail, but don't miss out on the many excellent fish restaurants in the centre!

Booking notes
A deposit of 30% is payable on booking by cheque or bank transfer. Final payment, including a refundable breakage deposit of £100, is due 1 calendar month before occupancy. We can also arrange Airport transfers at 70/80 euros one way and basic grocery packs on arrival (at cost). 1 % discount for stays longer than 15 days.

About the owner
Hi, we are Bob and Janet and have been married for just over 33 years (you get life for less!). We have two beautiful grown up daughters (well, sort of grown up!) who are linguists, and work in London. I am a semi retired surveyor, having spent much of my working life building houses as a small local house builder and Janet works for The Open University. We spend our spare time on our allotment, swimming and visiting Italy as much as possible.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
Having been fortunate enough to visit most of Europe over the last twenty five years or so, we chose our property on the basis that we wanted to be central to a "local" community - the REAL Italy ! Tropea is unspoilt by modern development, mostly populated by Italians, is a fantastic resort town, access from the UK is comfortable and the locals are warm, friendly people. There is a winning combination of history, scenery, beaches, markets, excellent restaurants and that magic ingredient that is missing from so many other similar places - atmosphere ! With sunshine hot enough for the beach from April through to the end of October, it is possible for us to take two or three weeks for ourselves and still make it worthwhile to let the property to holidaymakers.

Unique benefits of the property
Our apartment was chosen on the basis that we could walk easily to the many attractions and facilities, and we have many testimonials from our guests reinforcing our choice. Please ask if you would like to view these. We have also chosen to renovate and furnish our apartment to the standards expected in the UK (full aircon, a decent kitchen, second shower room, IKEA furnishings etc) having ourselves stayed in many that didn't come up to scratch !
