Accessibility
The apartment in on the first floor therefore not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Outside
Next to the apartment there's a large paved area, a wonderful place to lounge around, amongst the green of the countryside. Wonderful barbeque area.
Coast/Beach
The closest beach is Marina di Grosetto which is located 80kms from the apartment. There's is another sandy beach "Albanese" in a National Park wonderful drive through countryside where Chiniana cows are pastoring, the herding of the cows is still done on horse back - cowboy style. Superb walks are also available in the area.
Special interest holidays
The apartment is located in the Crete Senesi, 15kms south-west of Siena. It has extensive undisturbed views across the Tuscan countryside and to the skyline of Siena. Shopping at Taverne D'Arbia 7km or the medieval town Asciano 10kms. Only 30km from the wine area of Montalcino where the famous Brunello wine is produced. Rapolano Terme (thermal baths) 18kms; southern Chianti area 15kms.
The area is not touristy, you will find yourself surrounded by local farmers and people from local towns that visiting the countryside on the weekend.
Travel
The nearest airport is Florence which is 90 kms away. The cheaper airline fly into Pisa - 150kms or Perugia -75kms.
There's is car hire at the airports and also in Siena the companies are Hertz & Avis.
Distances
The nearest village is Arbia 7 kms from the apartment. There's is also the Medieval village of Asciano 10 kms away where you will find a Museum with Sienese art. Only 5 kms from Asciano there's the Abbey of Monte Oliveto where the monks still reside. The abbey is famous for its frescoed cloisters painted by Signorelli and Sodama.
Further details
The villages of Montoroni d'Arbia and Arbia are nearby, both have supermarkets, restaurants and banks. The closest restaurant is 6kms away, in the location of Pievina. The restaurant is family run.
