With a good sized garden the house, which is semi detached, offers spacious accommodation for up to 7 people with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, newly refurbished kitchen, fabulous large living room with fireplace typical of the Tuscany region, opening onto a wide covered portico with wooded hillside views, and a garden of about 1.5 ha. The surrounding country is beautiful but the property is also close to the historic city of Florence and pretty town of Fiesole. Further south the Chianti area, Siena, San Gimignano, Greve, Montepulciano and other well known Tuscany towns with their art galleries, gastronomias and boutiques are all within easy reach. The wonderful old city of Bologna with its lovely architecture, markets and restaurants, is about an hour and a half drive to the north east, just over the regional boundary. Il laghino is a perfect rural retreat close to Florence ideal for a family or group.

Golf
The Golf Club Poggio dei Medici is close by (less then half an hour away: Tel. +39 055 843 0436). It was constructed to USGA standards, and opened in 1995. It is recognized as the best course in Tuscany and among the finest in Italy. It is the home of the LPGA Italian Open. It is an 18 hole, par 73 International Championship Course, 6367 meters long, 5091 meters for ladies tees, 6519 meters or 7139 yards from championship tees. Driving range with putting and pitching green and shaded driving bays, extensive practice area. Open year-round, seven days per week. Golf lessons with PGA Academy Pros are available. Poggio dei Medici is in the heart of the Mugello area (25km from Florence). The club is well known for being the largest in Tuscany and for organizing the international Lady-Cup. The course can be used by golfers of all levels and is housed in the gracious 16th century Villa Cignano with its bar, lounges and restaurant.

Florence airport and railway within half an hour. Pisa airport within an hour and a half drive. Local bus. Car hire essential.

Walking and site seeing. Good number of local restaurants and pizzerias. 3km from il Laghino is the village of Polcanto with all the basic conveniences one may need. 15 minutes away is the lovely Etruscan village of Fiesole with a greater range of facilties. At Borgo San Lorenzo (17km) is a huge shopping centre, sporting resources such as tennis courts, indoor swimming pool and horse riding. At Bilancino Lake near Barbarino di Mugello (c 20km) it is possible to sail, windsurf, kayak and go fishing. Florence, Fiesole and all the well known hill towns of Tuscany within easy reach.
