If Sardinia is a beautiful island, nothing compares with La Maddalena Archipelago and its surrounds. Baobab Blu is less than 3 miles from the Archipelago and Palau and is situated in a quiet position on a hillside 1km from the sea. The house is carefully furnished and its 'old Spanish cotto floor' will contribute to give you a warm welcome. Baobab Blu has an old, genuine charm but it's also equipped with every modern fitting ( Satellite TV, Playstation, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, oven, air-con in 1 room and fans, etc). A nice and wide garden surrounds the house and wood gives shadow, gated access and parking, patio is equipped for alfresco dining, hammock and BBQ. In the garden you may easily meet some of the local fauna like as birds of prey, blackbirds and jays. Dog accepted. Many archeological excursions and guided visits available close by. Sports for every taste. Local genuine cuisine restaurants and ethnic restaurants nearby.

Notes on accommodation
Air conditioning is in one of the three bedrooms, but there are also a ceiling fan in the main room and other fans .
Cot available under request.
English speaking baby sitter available under request.
Accessibility
There are 3 steps from the main room to the kitchen. Outside there are also few steps but it's also possible to avoid them rounding on the other side, so even wheelchair person are well accepted.
Outside
1 large patio with long table for 8 chairs for alfresco dining. Outdoor furniture on the gazon including hammock, lazy chairs, outdoor beds and BBQ area under trees with a new gazebo. You can even play a bowling game while you're roasting steaks at the BBQ! According to the period you could eat figs, blackberries and medlars directly from the tree! In the wide garden there's also another small property, where I live.
Coast/Beach
Several and all different beaches (rocky, sandy, isolated or full of services) are spread around. I can give you a short list with distances. Bocche di Bonifacio with La Maddalena, Budelli Pink Beach, Razzoli, and other minor Islands are 20 minutes by boat and Corsica too, is very easy to reach. Marine Park of La Madd. will give you the chance to discover unique naturalistic sites even by trekking or horse riding in Caprera, either making a dive under these transparent and deep blu waters.
Golf
For keen golf players Pevero Golf Club is 30 minutes away, very close to Porto Cervo.
Special interest holidays
Possibility to rent a sailing boat with skipper for full day cruise in the Archipelago and Bocche di Bonifacio islands.

EasyJet, TUIfly, SAS, Sterling and Meridiana have direct flights to Costa Smeralda Olbia Airport (40' by car).

Maritime connection from Genova, Leghorn, Piombino and Civitavecchia to Olbia harbour.
Santa Teresa (23km) is connected with Corsica all year around.

Palau is 5 km from the house.
Olbia with airport and harbour 40km.
La Maddalena Archipelago 15 ' by ferry from Palau.
Porto Cervo and Costa Smeralda 20' by car.
Santa Teresa di Gallura is 25' by car.
Alghero airport 150km.
Further details
The nearest supermarket is 2' drive, but in Palau (5') you will find also large supermarkets, gasoline station, local shops, cinema, chemistry, physician, library (with English texts too), pastry-shop, etc.
Weekly market on Friday morning in Palau. Craft market every evening at 9 p.m.
Sports: diving school "Oyster Sub" in Golfo LeSaline (2' by car); horse riding in Cala Lepre (5' by car);
kite-surfing, wind surfing, kayak and water-sking in Porto Pollo (10' by car); rock-hiking in San Pantaleo and Valle della Luna (30' by car each),
tennis-courts in Palau, trekking every where.
Quad rides in Tempio mountains (1 hour by car) will let you know incredible and mysterious part of Gallura.
Trips: from Santa Teresa di Gallura (20' by car) you can easly reach by ferry Bonifacio (Corsica) with its white cliffs. La Maddalena and Caprera are 15' ferry from Palau.
One-day cruises in the Archipelago not to be missed.
Excursions: "Tombe dei Giganti" and Nuraghe are the archeological sites of major interest (10'-20' by car). There are several excursion and guided visit available close by.
Several summer village feasts and fairs in close by villages will give you the chance to taste local cuisine and dance. Weekly markets in La Maddalena, Palau and Arzachena, nice to visit for folk arts.
Museums: ethnological museum in Arzachena, archeological museum in Olbia (close to the harbour).
Restaurants: typical Sardinian food can be easly tasted in "Agriturismi" nearby. International cuisine and pizzerias in Palau, Cannigione (10' drive) etc.
We usually prepare for guests a short list (not exhaustive) with telephone numbers or driving indications for suggested beaches, sports, trips etc.
Booking notes
Baobab Blue is normally rent for 2 weeks at least, however bookings for a single week are accepted in low season. Deposit 50% at booking. Balance by cash at your arrival. Electricity consumes are not included.

thank you for a quiet place within the spectacular nature of Sardegna but close to Palau, La Maddalena and the Costa Smeralda.
We enjoyed our breakfast under the shadow of the big trees while watching turtles passing by and birds spending their time in the big green garden.
Your house is very charming and we loved coming back to it΄s warm and nice atmosphere after a great surfing day or trip to the near beaches.

Thank you for an absolutely fabulous week. Baobab Blu was in the perfect location- very quiet up in the hills but close to local amenities.The garden was great for the boys to play in, very safe and shady in the heat of the day. The accommodation itself was very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. We hope to be back ourselves and shall definitely recommend your villa to friends and family.

About the owner
The first time I visited North Sardinia a long time ago, I really felt comfortable and I realized that the area with this wild nature was a perfect place for me to stay.
I felt in love with all kinds of blues greens and turquoise mixed in a palette of colours sky, sea and countryside and the incredible granite rocks sculpted by the wind and the time .
I always liked to stay at open air the much more that I can and to have a simple style of life, close to the nature and her beauties , that's true. In fact I never had in my life an office work.
I has been sailing world around for few years, and spent several years later working in West Africa as a Vet, my profession.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Baobab Blue is not far from beaches and Palau village, but his particular interest as a holiday place are, the peace and restful time you can spend in it, far from crowds.
So it wil be easy for you to go swimming or sailing (the first beach is 5 minutes from the house ), and then come back to the house in a while to have a rest in the hammoqs under the oaks !!
All kinds of blues greens and turquoise mixed in a palette of colours sky, sea and countryside! Unforgettable are the views of the granite rocks sculpted by the wind and wonderful panoramas should be part of your unforgettable holidays right

If you come with your children, they can play in a very safe place, the garden is very large and full of trees and shadow.
You might have the opportunity to pick fruits from trees according to the period you come. (Medlars in May, Mulberries in June, Figs in July - August).
