The accommodation is ideal for those who wish to relax but also offers the opportunity to go on easy walks, trekking or longer excursions. Le Mezzane is set in the midst of a region which is rich in naturally beautiful places to see and discover. Places of naturalistic interest and small hamlets whose charm and traditions of bygone times have made this area precious and unique. The Apuan Natural Park is a world to explore Stazzema, Gallicano, Minucciano, Fabbriche di Vallico, Gello, Celle di Puccini, Lucca, Barga.

Outside
We reach Le Mezzane along a mountain road which leads to Mount Matanna. After going past an iron gate the road descends for about 150 metres and comes to a small pine wood where we leave the car. From here you can see the house and a lush green field where you can relax and sunbathe. The house is built on two floors with a cellar for use as a storeroom. You climb a few stone steps and you are under rustic porch which has a wood oven and wood storage space. From this porch there is a magnificent view across the valley with mount Il Piglione in the background which stands out from the rest of the mountain chain. Opposite the house there is a large Holly tree which in Autumn and Winter is covered in tiny red berries.
Coast/Beach
The house is only 40km from the most beautiful areas of the coast (Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta) easily reachable in 40 minutes by car.

On request ownership organizes excursions with a guide along the trails CAI.
Travel
The house is 55km away from the airport of Pisa and 120km from the airport of Florence, where you can rent a car.

Casa Le Mezzane is in an area with a wealth of beautiful places to be seen and discovered. It's wildlife and the charm of it's small villages, with their traditions of bygone times, have made this a unique and delightful area. The Apuan Nature Park is a world to be explored: Stazzema L'Antro del Corchia, Le Marmitte dei Giganti (the giants’ potholes), La Torbiera di Fociomboli (the Fociomboli peat-bog), the mountain pastures at Mosceta and Puntato, Mount Procinto and Mount Forato (the mountain with the crevice), the Museum of the Environment at Pruno, the War Memorial and the History of the Resistance Museum Sant'Anna di Stazzema. Gallicano La Rocca di Tarssilico, the teaching route about the chestnut woods and the 'metati' (small stone huts used for drying chestnuts), and the balconies decorated with flowers at Cardoso. Pescaglia The Galgani iron-foundry, The Chestnut Museum at Colognora, Mount Piglione, the Pedogna Valley. Celle dei Puccini In Giacomo Puccini’s family house the rooms have been perfectly preserved with the family’s furniture, portraits, letters, the piano on which Puccini composed part of Madam Butterfly, the phonograph given to Puccini by Thomas Edison, papers and music notes. Borgo a Mozzano Ponte della Maddalena, also known as the Devil's Bridge according to an ancient legend, and the Halloween festivities. Barga A town of considerable interest, it has won 'the most beautiful villages in Italy', the Touring Club Orange Flag, and the "Città Slow" awards, for its prestigious tourism qualities. Lucca. Among other reasons, it is famous for its intact Renaissance-era city walls (although the city has expanded beyond the wall's boundaries).

We ask that you contact us first to ensure that we have availability. A deposit of 30% is required to secure the booking. Our terms and conditions together with a booking form are sent and on receipt of the completed form, the holiday is confirmed in writing. The balance being paid 40 days prior to commencement of the holiday. A separate refundable breakage deposit is required of 150 euros at the time when you arrive.
