Notes on accommodation
The open-plan top floor with see-through balustrade and open staircase is unsuitable for toddlers.
Accessibility
Unsuitable for people with mobility constraints because of the relatively narrow staircase to the front door.
Outside
The front terrace has a wooden table and benches for eating outside. A barbecue is available upon request. Guests may enjoy swimming, sailing and wind-surfing in/on Lake Bracciano from the end of May.
Coast/Beach
Trevignano beach is less than 10 minutes walk from the apartment. It is safe for small children with a gently slope into unpolluted fresh water. Lake Bracciano is a reserve reservoir for Rome and no recreational motor boats are allowed. There are several sailing clubs where windsurfs, hobby cats and other sailing craft may be hired. Pedalos are also available for hire.
Travel
Flights to Rome arrive at either Ciampino Airport or Leonardo da Vinci Airport at Fiumicino. Both airports are about 40 miles from Trevignano. There is a good rail connection from Fiumicino to Bracciano where taxis are available (8 miles). Car hire is, however, recommended as public transport to and from Rome and/or Bracciano is infrequent. From the north by car (AI from Florence) cross over via Viterbo to the Cassia bis (SS2) and after the medieval town of Sutri turn right to Trevignano.
Distances
The apartment is about half a mile from the historic centre of Trevignano; 8 miles from Bracciano (the castle where Branagh filmed Othello and Tom Cruise got married);and 12 miles from Anguillara. Trevignano is just over 30 miles from the centre of Rome and within easy reach of Lake Martignano; Cerveteri's famous Etruscan Necropolis; Sutri's Etruscan amphitheatre and Roman Mithraic temple; and the Tyrrhenian coast which boasts Santa Severa castle, popular beaches and sea-food restaurants.
Further details
Trevignano has 2 banks with ATM, 2 petrol stations and a full range of shops including a rather special bakery 'Il Forno', local butchers and fishmongers. There is a well-stocked supermarket with fresh fruit and vegetables daily, and both delicatessen and meat counters three minutes walk away. There are over thirty restaurants in Trevignano ranging from simple trattoria and pizzeria to the more sophisticated. The town gets very popular in the summer and so booking in advance becomes advisable. A particularly welcoming bar is 'La Vela' on the water front where Giolo will treat you to his wonderful breakfast cornetti and cappucini!

Guest comments
A young Danish couple with a very young baby came twice in 2007; the second time with her parents and found the apartment ideal. Jennie and Rod from Bristol have also stayed twice and wrote "We have had a very comfortable stay and enjoyed the views, the light, airy, spacious rooms furnished simply, but tastefully decorated. Everything supplied to make a relaxing time in Trevignano memorable."
