Notes on accommodation
Included in rental price: all utilities, centrally heating, wood for wood-burning fireplace, air-conditioning in bedrooms, dining and living rooms. Suitable for children and elderly persons. Because we have 2 friendly and very well-behaved dogs on the property, we cannot accept pets. We are sorry.
Telephone is through switchboard; incoming and internal calls only.

Accessibility
Not suitable for persons with mobility problems as there are three steps up to the house, and one step from the patio, and bathrooms are also not suitable. We are very sorry about this.

Outside
Private garden with swing-seat, table and chairs. Patio with table and chairs. Other garden furniture such as swing seats and chairs is dotted around the grounds and in various small gardens which are shared. Portable barbecue. Parking on property. Feel free to pick your breakfast fruit (if in season). Taste our organically-grown olive oil.

Beach: 60 miles approx.

Travel
A car is essential; there is no suitable public transport.
Nearest airports are Florence (1 hour), Pisa (2 hours), Rome and Bologna (2.5 hours).
Nearest railway stations: Arezzo (18 miles); Castiglion Fiorentino 8 miles.

House is located in medieval village: 3 minutes walking distance.
Driving Distances.
Lucignano and Monte San Savino: 10 minutes.
Arezzo: 20 minutes.
Siena: 40 minutes.
Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino: 45 minutes.
Monte Oliverto Maggiore Monastery: 1 hour.
Florence: 1 hour.
Rome: 2.5 hours.

Further details
Bank, pharmacy, coffee-bar, restaurant, butcher, bakery and two supermarkets are within 5 minutes walk. Numerous other restaurants in the neighbourhood, but accessible by car.
Swimming pools - Thermal spas
There are numerous very nice reasonably priced swimming pools in the area, all within a short drive. All towns have one. Badicorte (5 mins. drive) is very popular with children as it has numerous slides etc. The nicest are Sinalunga, Trequanda (magnificent setting), Castiglion Fiorentino and Camucia. Foiano (5 mins) is rarely crowded. Two famous thermal spas are nearby: Rapolano Terme (20 minutes) and Bagno Vignoni (40 minutes).
Local events and markets
Market days (mornings): Monday: Foiano della Chiana; Tuesday: Sinalunga; Wednesday: Monte san Savino, Castiglione del Lago; Thursday: Lucignano, Camucia; Friday: Castiglion Fiorentino; Saturday: Arezzo, Cortona. The antiques fair in Arezzo takes place on the first Sunday of the month (starts on Friday evening and continues Saturday and Sunday). Arezzo, Monte San Savino and Cortona have numerous antique shops. Each village and town has local feasts: please inquire for details. The biggest one is the Maggiolata held every weekend in May in Lucignano. The famous horse-race in Siena, the Palio, is held in early July and mid-August. Each town/village often has open-air concerts and other musical events. Cortona usually has a few open-air operas, and there is a concert festival in Monte San Savino.
Places to see
FLORENCE. Leave your car at station of Castiglion Fiorentino and take train to Florence, leaving and returning every hour; about 1 hour’s journey. SIENA is about 40 minutes away by car, driving through magical country side. Visit Cortona, Lake Trasimeno, Perugia, Assisi. Wonderful local walking areas.
Other Activities: Hot-air balloon trips over Tuscany; visit to local vineyards.

An exquisite home and grounds set in idyllic countryside and run by the perfect hosts who make you feel totally at home from the minute you arrive, ensure that you have all the local knowledge to maximise the visit and yet are never intrusive. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will recommend it to all our friends.
* What can we say? Fantastic house, host and dogs. Shame we were too late to see the sunflowers but we found one field where they were flourishing. This is a wonderful place to stay. We shall miss everything. We will return next year.
