These houses are part of a small hamlet 'Borgo al Castello' which stems from the end of the 19th century. Farmers have used these cottages as barns for hay and animals. They have recently been lovingly restored, maintaining their original flavour but with modern comforts. Surrounded by olive groves and woods, located on a hill approximately 380 meters above sea level, they have a spectacular view over the city of Lucca and the surrounding hills. The 'Borgo al Castello' is located in Pieve S, Stefano in the heart of hills yet not too far from Lucca. These hills are considered a jewel of exceptional beauty and one of the most exclusive places of the entire province. These houses are suitable for all types of holidays. Whether you want to just relax or to visit the many nearby Tuscan towns renowned for their art and culture.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property(s) per week in euros.
In autumn and winter lets their is a discount from 2 to 4 people. Beds are changed weekly and 2 hours cleaning in the middle of each week is included for Stalla and Fienile Central heating is not included and is costed at 4euro per unit. We offer at an extra cost babysitting, and dinners. For lets longer than 3 weeks we offer reduced prices.
Changeover day
The arrival must take place on Saturday between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The departure between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Each change to the arrival date and arrival time must be advised to the owner.
In the low season arrival and departure is flexible.

Fienile (4 Bedrooms, Sleeps 8)

The Fienile was originally a barn for storing hay and the name "Fienile" derives from its use. The 1st floor has a large, luminous living area which still leaves the impression of it having been a barn with its original beams and its many old tiled ventilated window openings. It has a large fireplace, comfortable seating area, dining room table, music system and sat TV. Next to it the well equipped kitchen (washing machine, dishwasher, cooking stove, oven, freezer, refrigerator) boasts a beautiful old stone sink, typical of a peasants house of the past. There is also utility room and a bathroom with a shower on this floor. The bedrooms are located on the ground floor. The main double bedroom has a private bathroom with shower. The three remaining bedrooms (a double, a twin and the smallest with a bunk bed) share a bathroom with bath. |

Loggia (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

Loggia is a charming restored bungalow lovingly furnished and decorated, overlooking a wonderful view of Lucca. You walk into the bright openplan kitchen/lounge. The kitchen is very well equipped (washing machine, dishwasher, cooking stove, oven, freezer and refrigerator).There is one double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a twin bedroom with another bedroom with bath. |

L'Olivo (3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6)

| L'Olivo has a charming living room overlooking a wonderful view of Lucca and on the same floor a nice kitchen with fireplace, well equipped with washing machine, cooking stove, oven, freezer and refrigerator. Outside
From the first floor of the houses a door opens directly from the kitchen onto the patio beside the house. Sitting at the large outside table in the tranquillity of this unique environment it is possible to enjoy the spectacular views below. The shared pool of Stalla ,Fienile and Loggia (7x14m with diving board) is situated behind and slightly above the houses (14x7m. with diving board) with its large pergola for eating outside and spacious area for taking the sun.
The pool is a short walk along a Rosemary scented pathway on its own terrace enclosed by Roses, Lemons and Geraniums, overlooked by the terraced olive grove (accessed by the pool) were you can find other private eating and seating areas or taking a magical evening walk through the olive groove L`Olivo has its private pool located in a very large garden overlooking a wonderful view of Lucca. Very suitable for children.
Coast/Beach
The Versilia coast is only 30 minutes by car with very long beaches and very famous places like Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio and Pietrasanta well known for its sculptures and marbles caves. The Versilia coast is also well known for its restaurants and for its very animated night life in the summer.
Special interest holidays
The Borgo is looked after by the owners who personally maintain and care for the property and guests, and who like to prepare dinners by request in the spirit of conserving traditional lucchese recipes from genuine high quality local produce, including their own olive oil, and local wines which can also be tasted and acquired in the area. The Borgo is also associated with the artistic tradition of spinning and weaving of cloth on antique looms. Genni, the owner of Stalla and Fienile dedicates some of her time producing cloth of which Lucca is famous in locations at Torre Guinigi and the museum Palazzo Mansi.
Travel
The airport of Pisa is only 40 minutes by car.
The car is recommended.
Distances
This location is both extremely private and at the same time close to Lucca (only 15 minutes by car) Others town of great interest are less than 1 hour by car like Pisa, Florence and the small villages of Garfagnana. Siena and San Gimignano are about 1 hour and half by car. Another suggested visit is to Cinque Terre a wonderful trip 2 hours by car.
Further details
There are two typical restaurants only 5 minutes by car from the houses and just at the end of the road some local shops, newsagents, tobacconist. The supermarket and the bank is only 15 minutes by car. There is a Guide for the guests of ‘Il Borgo’ written by the owners with a map indicating restaurants, vineyards, local farms, shops, bars, etc… also locations especially selected for their unique character and quality to give a feeling and taste of the atmosphere of our local area and town.
Booking notes
For the booking deposit is required equal to 30% of the amount and the guest will be required to fill a booking form to sign and send back to the owner.

‘Genni was a very welcoming and helpful hostess. The accommodation is spacious and clean. It is attractively presented with interesting antiques and curios, and good decoration. The kitchen is quite well equipped and has the essentials. Parking across the road is OK. The pool is not immediately adjacent to the house, but it is private and easily accessible up a path. The Italian neighbours across the road from the bedroom windows were a bit noisy late in the evening, but it was the early stages of the World Cup!’
