The La Fornella Estate is located in the Eastern Chianti region of Tuscany, just 18km to the Southeast of Florence. La Fornella was built around 1400 a.d. and was originally a monastic residence. The villa has been tastefully restored and is now divided into three splendid apartments which may be rented on a weekly basis either separately or together for exclusive use of the villa. The apartments share a swimming pool and the 25 acres (9 h) of Sangioves vines, groves and fruit trees surrounding the property. The pool and villa enjoy gorgeous views of the castle, vines and Pelago valley below. Many services are arranged for by the two Friendly, English, Italian, and French speaking owners, including a local chef upon request, free Internet access, guided private and group tours for day trips to all of Tuscany, wine & cheese tours, cooking, pottery and language classes, and bicycle rental.

Special interest holidays
Tours at competitive prices are offered by local guides to many area locations and museums. The tours are held in small groups or privately and include all transportation costs and entrance fees when applicable. Vendemia days are organized during the months of September and October (weather depending). Guests participate in the harvest of local rufina grapes and also enjoy a home cooked meal by local farmers prepared with 100% natural ingredients from their farm.
Home cooked meals are prepared by a local chef upon request. Cooking lessons may be arranged for at the adjacent villa of Montepescoli and are given by a local Italian ‘Signora’. Menus include typical regional foods and local, genuine ingredients.
A concierge service is offered prior to arrival and upon check in, including all reservation requests and suggestions for day trips, restaurants and museums.

Florence airport 40 minutes. Pisa airport 1 hour. Bologna airport 1 hr. 20 minutes. Forli airport 45 minutes.

From La Fornella to: Florence 18km. Arezzo 60km. Rome 300km. Siena 90km. San Gimigano 75km. Pisa 120km. Pontassieve Train Station 6km. La Fornella is located just 18km Southeast of the city of Florence and 6km Southeast of the village of Pontassieve. Once we know how you plan to arrive and from where you plan to arrive, we will provide precise directions.
Further details
Golf, Zoo, tennis, horse back riding and shopping nearby. Local alimentari (Paterno) for breakfast pastries and all basic items is 10 minutes by foot. Nearest village (Pelago) is 25 minutes by foot with bar, restaurants, post office, pharmacy, newsstand, etc. Florence is 30 minutes by car. All major Tuscan destinations are within about 1 hour by car.
Booking notes
To confirm your reservation we require 350 euros deposit per apartment per week which is of course applicable to your final balance. Our cancellation policy allows for a 75% refund of the deposit amount up to 2 months prior to your reservation. The deposit amount is non-refundable following this date.
