Changeover day
We are quite flexible regarding changeover days and arrival and departure times.

Tulipano (Tulip) House 5

Downstairs: small kitchen with 4 ring gas cooker, fridge, sink & draining board, crockery, cutlery and basic cooking utensils. Downstairs: large dining room, dining table & chairs, cupboards, french windows with balcony. First floor: bedroom with double bed. Second floor: bedroom with three single beds (2 can join to make double) with en suite toilet. Second floor: shower & toilet.

Viola (Violet) House 6

Downstairs: bedroom with double bed, wardrobe, chest, bed-side cabinets & mountain view. Upstairs: large kitchen/diner with 4 ring gas hob, fridge, sink & draining board, cupboards, crockery, cutlery & basic cooking utensils. This house has an open fire place and kitchen door leading out to public terrace by ancient church. Upstairs: shower & toilet.

Orchidea (Orchid) House 3

This is a one level, open-plan apartment. It has a bedroom with double bed, living/dining room with table, chairs, book shelves. An archway leads through to the kitchen which has a 4 ring gas cooker, fridge, sink and draining board, cupboards, crockery, cutlery and basic cooking utensils. Then another archway through to the shower room room with shower, basin and toilet.

House 7

This is our largest house, with 4 bedrooms (2 double & 2 large single), each with en suite shower, bidet & toilet. It also has a large dining room & large kitchen (with table & chairs), 4 ring gas cooker, fridge, sink & draining board, cupboards, crockery, cutlery, basic cooking utensils & an open fire place. Large balcony along mountain side of house and a small roof terrace both with a fantastic view of the mountains and sea.

Notes on accommodation
All houses have gas heaters and 3 also have fire places. There is a washing machine on site for all guests to use.
Please note that you will need to be fairly fit and sure-footed to enjoy a holiday at A Retreat with a View, as it is a steep 5/10 min walk from the village centre up to our houses. The pathways are mostly newly laid and lit.

Outside
As you walk down the steps of Via Santa Maria our houses are on either side. When you reach the bottom there is a large grassy terrace for guests to relax and a smaller terrace, just above, with a barbeque.

Coast/Beach
The closest beaches to Baiardo are in San Remo, on the Italian Riviera, which is 23km. It takes approx. 50 mins to drive from Baiardo to San Remo or 1 hr by bus.

Special interest holidays
We offer Italian Language & Culture weeks throughout July. These are open to groups and individuals and run for six days. Guests are invited to indulge in a week of all things Italian - language, history, culture, art, music, food and wine.

Travel
The closest airports to Bairdo are Nice, Cote D'Azur, France and Genoa (Genova), Italy. We recommend Nice as it is considerably closer and has more frequent flights.
When you arrive at either Nice or Genoa airport it is simple to get to Baiardo.

Using Public Transport:
There are regular shuttle buses to the train stations, which take about 20 minutes. From both Nice Ville train station and Genoa Piazza Principe train station there are regular trains to San Remo. http://www.trenitalia.it

Further details
Baiardo offers 2 restaurants, 3 grocery shops, a bar, a cafe which serves light lunches & a post office. There is also a central church with regular services. The closest small town to Baiardo (en route to San Remo) is Ceriana, this is has a larger selection of shops, restaurants and bars, although it is still a small mountain community. There are also other mountain villages of interests near Baiardo - Triora, the witches' village and Bussana Vecchia the mountain-top artists' community. Then you have San Remo, which has the famous casino, big market selling food, clothes, shoes & bags, two busy central shopping streets, endless restaurants, cafes and bars, two night clubs and in summer numerous beach bars.

Each house is priced individually and the average price is approx. £23 per person, per night (see accommodation page on our website). Minimum booking of 3 nights applies to all houses.

Please make your booking using the facility on the booking page of our website, or email me directly. We require a deposit of 25%, to be paid by cheque within a week of booking. The remainder can either be paid in full, by cheque four weeks before your arrival, or by cheque or cash when you arrive in Baiardo.
