La Quercia, a beautifully restored stone farm house, is luminous and cozy with spectacular south western views. Nestled amidst old terraces on a high hillside, it is surrounded by wild cherry trees and sheltering oaks, from which the house takes its name. Though it has a commanding perspective on all it surveys, La Quercia gives the sensation of being utterly embedded in its landscape, seemingly at one with its multiple views of distant farms, olive groves and undulating hills changing color in the shifting light. French doors and outdoor terraces on three sides of the house make the landscape an integral part of the indoor and outdoor environment of the house, a constant reminder of the Tuscan and Umbrian landscapes made famous by Piero della Francesca and Giotto. A 17th century refectory table in the upper kitchen and a large teak dining table on the expansive, wisteria-covered terrace allows everyone to eat together in all seasons.

There is an elegant 18 metre by 7 metre infinity swimming pool, shared with guests at La Pietra, which is set in a large, secluded meadow, not visible from either property. La Quercia has a large, private, colourful garden with a dining terrace under a wisteria-covered pergola. The ground-floor kitchen and living areas open directly on to the terrace. The upper floor country kitchen opens on to an elevated brick terrace with superb views. Guests are welcome to use the herb and vegetable gardens in season
Coast/Beach
Lake Trasimeno, with water sports, beaches and ferry trips to its islands, is half an hour away.
Special interest holidays
Guests at La Quercia can request cooking lessons and / or splendid typical Umbrian feasts provided by the cooks of the Amore Sapore team. These meals are often described as the highlight of the stay.
Travel
Perugia airport is nearby (forty minutes) and the house is also with reach of airports at Rome Fiumincino, Rome Ciampino, Florence Peretola, Pisa, Bologna, Ancona and Forli.
Distances
The little hilltop village of Preggio is ten minutes' drive and the house is less than ten minutes from the scenic Niccone valley, which offers bars, restaurants, a winery, and small food stores. Umbertide, the nearest full service town, is twenty minutes away and has a bustling weekly food and produce market.
