This is a large apartment in the historic centre of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, giving magnificent southern views out over Lake Trasimeno and east over the hills towards Perugia. It is perfect for those who wish to have a peaceful holiday in a traditional Umbrian village. The local bakery is 30 yards away; the Piazza Municipio 80 yards away. The apartment is newly refurbished but remains simple and elegant. A spiral staircase descends from the kitchen into the bedroom and study areas; wireless internet allows full communications with the outside world even while you spend most time reading on the terrace.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment is perfect for those who would like actually to stay in a village, as opposed to the pure countryside. There is access to a shared garden, and shared barbecue.
Outside
There is a small garden. It has a permanent wood-fired barbecue. This is shared with the owner of the property. Access is via an outhouse.
Coast/Beach
Lake Trasimeno is 2km from the village. It has one beach on the Tuoro shore, plus a campsite, pier, small harbour, and restaurants by the lake.
Golf
Golf Club Perugia is 30 minutes away (18 hole course at Ellera). Umbria has two other decent golf courses, both within 40 minutes from Tuoro (Golf Club Panicale, 9 hole course; Antognolla Golf Club, two 9-hole courses).

Cooking courses available, both one-two meal and weekly, in exceptional restaurant within metres of the front door.
Travel
Perugia Sant'Egidio is the nearest domestic airport, currently receiving flights from Stansted with Ryanair. Closest international airports are Pisa, Florence, Rome, Bologna. Driving time is approximately 90 minutes from Florence, 2 hours from Rome and Pisa, 2 and a half hours from Bologna.
Car hire strongly recommended.
Distances
Tuoro is on the north shore of lake Trasimeno, right in the heart of Italy. Cortona is 10km to the north, Perugia 25km away to the east, Rome 200km to the south, Florence 140km to the north, Siena 60km to the west. There is a mainline train station in Terontola-Cortona ten minutes away by car, from where services go to Rome, Florence, Bologna, Milan.
Further details
Tuoro is a delightful unspoilt Umbrian village. People here are truly friendly. In the historic centre the village has two banks, three mini-markets, a post-office, a tobacconist, several small shops, two bars, and two restaurants. English is spoken a little but the tourist influx in the summer centres on Passignano sul Trasimeno and Cortona (Passignano is 5km away, Cortona 10km). Tuoro is an excellent rural base from which to explore central Italy. Day trips to Perugia, Siena, Assisi, Florence, and Rome are easy (lunch in Florence is a particular favourite; just over an hour on the train from Terontola station, 5km away). It is a perfect place to unwind, yet many of my guests also like to cycle the many hills and paths around Tuoro, and also to run down to and beside the lake. A ferry service connects Tuoro to Isola Maggiore, and there are trains and buses to Passignano, Terontola, Castiglione del Lago and Perugia. One train per day departs directly to Florence.
Booking notes
A 20% deposit is to be paid to secure the booking, 80% two weeks before arrival. There is also a refundable damage deposit of GBP200 to be paid. There will be a gas use supplement for non-summer bookings. Email me for more photographs.
