Besozzola Hamlet
Besozzola Hamlet

‘Casa Nascosta’ is located in a Hillside Hamlet above Salsomaggiore (famous for its natural spa). Its nearest large town is Fidenza, north of the beautiful city of Parma. We are 20 mins from Fiorenzuola, in the province of Piacenza. Our house is very close to the medieval castles of Castell A'rquato, Castel Vigoleno and Fontanellato. Visit Bussetto Theatre and Museum, which is the birthplace of the famous composer Giuseppe Verdi. There are the "Open Air Opera's performed locally in Summer. Genuine unspoilt Italy, many believe it beats Tuscany for its beauty and friendliness of the people. Yet due to it's central location the major cities and the lakes of Northern Italy can be visited as day trips with a 2/3 hr. drive or train journey, thus avoiding expensive hotel stops overnight. Villa Nascosta make it your hub for exploring Italy. The natural beauty and mountainous scenery of the Province of Parma stretches for miles, wonderful scenery at night from the house and hills above.

Shane Crowe, Dublin Wonderful house with easy access to other areas of Italy. Really enjoyed going to the local towns and buying fresh food in the market.Bessozola

We spent a most comfortable week in the small village of Besozzola.,

The property was a real home from home, spotless and extremely well equipped. The house has been renovated to a superb standard but it felt like home.

The views were spectacular travelling up to the property and the directions on arrival easy to follow. The surrounding villages and towns were wonderful to visit - the Spa at Salsomaggiore is spectacular, we were spoilt for choice with the many castles in the vicinity and the local bakery was amazing. We fitted in a day trip to Florence on the train and a day trip to Venice by car. Despite lots of sightseeing, it felt most relaxing tucked away in the Italian hills.

The local residents made us feel very welcome but not under the spotlight. Our neighbour, who had spent some time in England.

Owner profile

About the owner
All this came about when I met my husband by chance on a week-end trip to the UK. He then came to Dublin on business and we met up, he suggested taking me to his parents home in Italy, with no strings attached. (another Romeo). Well 26 years later we are married with a son of 18, we have lived in the Parma area for 7 years and I learned to love the culture. At present we are living in the UK but we intend to retire to Besozzola in the next few years, we have made many friends and enjoy the lifestyle. We love this area and take as many short breaks as possible, it is so convenient for many of the Northern Italian Airports, with the advantage of some of them having low cost airlines flying in.

Year purchased: 2001

Why the owner chose a home in this location
My husband's mother and father were both from this area although they met in the UK. He was brought up in the UK but we returned in 1991 to set up a business. We returned to the UK in 1998 but each year returned on holiday, on one of these occasions we found our home in a beautiful village near to his cousin and his family. To us this is a wonderful area, totally unspoilt and the people are so helpful and friendly. It is still undiscovered by the many tourists who come to Italy, we believe it will only appeal to those who want to experience the true Italian lifestyle.
