Mulerna is a rustic Tuscan farmhouse surrounded by olive groves and vines and with superb views over the beautiful Lucchese hills. This cosy 200 year old rural property is a mile from the local village of Ponte a Moriano (with all amenities) and just 6 miles from Lucca - an attractive old walled town full of cultural treasures but with a more relaxed air than her bigger, more cosmopolitan sisters of Florence and Siena - both of these also within easy reach. The Mediterranean and Versillia coast is just 40 mins drive. The beautiful wild Garfagnana region is also reached within the hour.
Mulerna is set on a hillside in a wonderful sunny position overlooking the valley in a lovely rural area. We have several acres of terraced land full of fruit trees, olives and grapes a small stream and chestnut and oak woodland. Guests can help themselves to the bounty throughout the summer and autumn!

Notes on prices
Prices shown per week in UK Pounds (GBP). This is the rental required. If payment is made via foreign bank transfer, Paypal or similar all charges must be covered by the payee. Discounts for long winter lets and for bookings of 3 weeks or more. There is an additional £100 surcharge if use of the pool is requested - and agreed - out of season (June- September). Heating is not included in the rental. This is metered and must be paid for locally on departure. Wi-Fi internet access is included.
Changeover day
Changeover days are usually Saturday but it is sometimes possible to vary these outside high/mid season. Arrival should be after 16.00 and departure before 10.00.

Towels and bedlinen are provided. Beach/swimming towels are not provided. Cleaning services pre-arrival and post departure are included. Also included in the price is a mid-stay linen change and light clean if staying more than a week. |

Notes on accommodation
The house has full central heating and also a functioning large open fireplace which makes the house cosy, even in the cooler months of autumn and winter. The thick stone walls, brick and tile floors and some cellar rooms help to keep the house as cool as possible through the hot summer months. There are free standing fans throughout the house. All windows have fitted mosquito screens.
Outside
Mulerna is particularly suitable for families with children of all ages. The fenced in swimming pool (8.5 x 3.5m) and lawn area are situated on terraced land just above the house, surrounded by olive trees and roses with lovely views across the valley. There is an old forno with attached barbecue and a free standing 'barbie' (to use by the pool or beside the outside marble dining table if desired). There are several acres of land to explore and fruit - apples, pears, figs, damsons, cherries, grapes and plums when in season are for the guests to pick and enjoy! Sweet chestnuts and mushrooms can be gathered during the autumn. Although the farmhouse is secluded, it is by no means isolated.
Coast/Beach
The closest beaches are on the Versillia coast - the nearest Viareggio is approx 30/35 mins drive. This is a lively seaside town and fishing port with many beach 'clubs' with private facilities, also public free beach areas. There are numerous bars, restaurants and night clubs and designer label shops along the wide promenade. In February it is famous for its Carnival.The parade of massive floats is quite amazing. A little further up the coast is the sophisticated resort of Forte di Marmi.
Golf
Versilia Golf course in Pietrasanta (18 holes par 71), Cosmopoloitan Golf and Country Club(18 holes par 72) and Golf Club Terrenia(9 holes par 36) in Terrenia Pisa are all within 35-45 mins drive.
Skiing
It is possible to ski and snowboard at Abetone, about an hour's drive. This is a small mountain resort with a number of ski lifts that connect to runs to both Abetone and Val di Luce in the neighbouring valley. A haven for intermediate skiers. The village has many small, inexpensive hotels, guest houses and ski hire shops.
Travel
The nearest airport is Pisa (35/40 min. drive) but it is also possible to arrive at Bologna, Florence or even Genoa - all are within 1 to 2.5 hours drive.
Distances
Ponte a Moriano is the nearest village (under 2kms) which has all facilities including a good supermarket, 24hr cash withdrawal, bank, GP, chemist etc. Lucca is just 8 mins. drive and Florence, the coast, Pisa and the beautiful wild Garfagnana region are all within the hour.
Further details
Mulerna is situated close to Lucca which has numerous bars and trattoria as well as renowned restaurants. There is a large market within the walled area every Weds. and Sat. morning and antique and art markets are held one Sunday a month in the town. It is possible to hire bikes and ride along the walls that completely surround the town.There is a direct rail link with Florence and the coast. In July there is the famous Lucca Festival which hosts/has hosted international stars such as Elton John, Dido, Craig David, The Eagles, Pink and many more with a different performer most nights. The local village of Ponte a Moriano is just minutes away from the house and has numerous good restaurants, including Michelin rated. There are others in the countryside close by, most with fabulous views. The village also has a good supermarket and all the other usual facilities expected of a lively country town.
Booking notes
The prices are in UK Pounds Sterling and we require a deposit of £200 pw to confirm the booking. The remaining rental is required 2 months before arrival. A £200 returnable security deposit is requested 2 weeks prior to the start of the holiday.
