Front of house in village
|
|
Characteristic medieval old town house. The house is south facing with a delightful balcony, overlooking the valley. The house is on four levels and split into two properties. On the ground floor there is a large utility/cellar containing a new washing machine and ironing facilities. On the first level there is one double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and a spacious bathroom with bidet. On the second level is a very large and light lounge/diner which has a large settee which turns into a king size bed. Also on this level is a very spacious newly fitted kitchen. On the third level there are a further three bedrooms - one double which is ensuite, plus a single and double which share a bathroom. The house has vaulted ceilings and has a lot of character as well as being very comfortable. The house also has gas central heating so it can be used all year round as Limone is only a couple of hours away for skiing.

Accessibility
Because the house is situated in the middle of the village there are a lot of steps and stairs to contend with so people in a wheelchair would not be able to reach the house.
Outside
There is a balcony which overlooks the valley.
Coast/Beach
It takes about 20 minutes by car to reach the beautiful beaches of the Italian and French Riviera, such as Ventimiglia, Sanremo, and Menton and then onto Monte Carlo.
Skiing
Two hours from ski resort of Limone.
Travel
Nearest airport is Nice - 50 minutes by car (but longer on a Friday as there is a market in Ventimiglia). Genoa is about 1.5 hours away. We highly recommend car hire as there are so many beauty spots to visit in the area. There is also a good public transport service but this is limited in the evenings.
Distances
It takes about 40 mins from Pigna to Monte Carlo which hosts the Formula 1 Grand Prix in May. It also boasts plenty of art galleries and museums and not forgetting the wonderful harbour and palace. You also have the lovely village of Grasse, the home of perfume, which is an hour away. There are numerous villages to explore such as Dolce Aqua and Bussana Vecchia, Bussana being about 40 mins away.
Further details
Pigna has a bank, chemist, pizzaria, 3 grocery shops, 3 bars and trattoria which sells traditional home cooked food. There is also a spa and beauty therapy, 5 star hotel which also has a healing sulphur swimming pool. As you travel down the valley you pass through several villages which host an abundance of restaurant and eating houses. There are several natural water pools around the village which are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. These are mainly used by the locals and can make a nice change from the beach. Through the summer months the village is a hive of activity hosting many festivals which can involve eating drinking and dancing. Pigna is child friendly with its playgrounds, tennis court and football pitch. There are several mule tracks which are fantastic for hiking and also for the enthusiastic mushroom picker. There are plenty of places to find them as you will be surrounded by forest. Pigna has a wealth of art and history. The church of San Michelle which dominates the village is home to the famous Polyptict painted by Giovanni Canevesio in 1500. 10 minutes from the village is a camp site which has a swimming pool and bar, non residents are always welcome and if you feel like it you can take a picnic.
