Casa Pescaia is much more than holiday accommodation; staying there is part of a broader experience. An ochre yellow Tuscan house at the end of a 1km private drive winding up through olive groves with commanding views (and spectacular sunsets!) over Arezzo and beyond. Renovated 5 years ago, it is designed around its views and offers comfortable and versatile accommodation for up to 6 in the house plus 2 in the separate stone built guest cottage. Outside there is a 14 x 5.5m private pool with 360 degree views, total privacy, vine clad pergola and surrounding olive terraces and chestnut forest. The landscaped garden offers plenty areas to sit, contemplate and enjoy the skies, seasons and views. Casa Pescaia is situated on a 75 acre farm ('The Tuscan Terrace'). Guests have full access to the farm and a range of outdoor/sporting activities (not all on the premises). The Etruscan town of Arezzo is under 15 minutes away, and the house is equipped for year round occupancy.

Notes on accommodation
Casa Pescaia is managed by the owners who live on the farm, giving guests a 'no-worries' stay and a chance to arrange special outings and activities. The house offers accommodation from March to November and we hope you will be tempted by Winter warmth, Spring sun, or golden harvest Autumn, as alternatives to splendid - sometimes sweltering - Summer. There is full central heating throughout the house and guest cottage, an open fireplace and 2 wood-burning stoves (wood supplied).
The house offers a very rare combination of complete privacy yet with the main parking in central Arezzo about 10-15 minutes away. A thriving prosperous town of about 100,000, Arezzo has Etruscan, Renaissance and Gothic history, shopping, cafes and restaurants, all still authentically Italian without the Disney feel of some other venues. Casa Pescaia offers versatile accommodation; it is cosy and manageable for couples enjoying a get-away-from-it-all break and yet easily accommodates families with children.
Accessibility
We regret that due to its high, terraced site, Casa Pescaia is not suitable for the infirm. Toddlers will need adult supervision.
Outside
There is a 14 x 5.5m pool (not heated), open from about early-May to mid-October. Its 360 degree views, total privacy, vine clad pergola and surrounding olive terraces and chestnut forest make for a truly memorable swimming experience. Simple pool games, bocce and badminton, full range of pool loungers, tables, chairs etc are available.
The landscaped garden complements the surrounding natural ambiance. Dry stone walls abound. At Casa Pescaia you are truly surrounded by nature and there are plenty of areas to sit, relax, contemplate and enjoy the skies, seasons and views.
The house is on a 75 acre terraced farm (The Tuscan Terrace) which is a traditional azienda with 900 olive trees and 2 small vineyards producing Chianti Superiore. There are also fig, almond, mulberry, walnut and chestnut trees. Guests can roam freely and join in with the olive, grape and fig harvests if they wish; its light work and great fun!
Coast/Beach
Sailing and swimming are available at Lago Trasimeno which is about 1 hours drive.
Travel
The closest airport is Florence (about 1 hour by car); Pisa airport is about 1.5-2 hours and Rome's airports are about 2.5 hours away. The main A1 motorway is under 30 minutes. Arezzo station is about 15 minutes from the house, with high speed connections to Florence, Rome, Milan, Bologna etc.
To enjoy your visit to the full a car is essential. A friendly local pizzeria/cafe is under 5 minutes. Shops, banks/ATMs and Arezzo town centre are all less than 15 minutes.
Distances
Arezzo itself is great fun with lots to do and see. Also easily reached are Sansepolcro, Caprese Michelangelo (birthplace of the artist), Anghiari, factory outlet shopping, the wine trail etc. Florence (under an hour by train or car) and Siena (about an hour). Cortona, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto and Rome are all in a southerly direction and an easy day trip. Pisa, the Tuscan coast and access to Elba, the Carrara marble area, Bologna, the Abatone ski area etc are about 2 hours away.
Further details
For guests at Casa Pescaia, there are plenty of activities; just choose 'your thing' - sport, exercise - to suit your own energy levels. Some of these are on the farm's terrain eg jogging, walking, outdoor games such as 'bocce' and badminton, while others are nearby and can be arranged by the owners (eg tennis, gym, aerobics, Pilate's, yoga, spinning, hydro biking, mountain biking, horse riding - dressage and cross country trekking). Get fit/stay fit; its all possible.
And the owners can arrange for less strenuous activities and outings too, such as a visit to a historic Fattoria (wine making); a visit to the rustic frantoio (olive oil mill) to see them pressing our olives for extra virgin oil (November-December only); tickets for football matches, concerts and musical events; a 'personal' tour of Florence including by night if you wish; and a range of other special requests e.g. tours of famous gardens, classes in cookery, Italian, painting etc.

Bookings are made with the owners following a simple form. A deposit of 25% is requested at the time of booking and full payment 12 weeks before arrival. If its easier for you, the owners speak Dutch, English, French, and Italian, and can understand some German and Spanish.

Guest comments
Casa Pescaia has hosted a globetrotting international crowd (over the past 4 years about 40 families have stayed from as far afield as Canada, Zimbabwe, South Africa, the US and many European countries).
High powered couples recharging their batteries, grandparents meeting up with the rest of the family, exercise enthusiasts, nature and garden lovers, friends gathering for school reunions, parents spending quality time with children; Casa Pescaia has accommodated them all. Without exception, everyone has enjoyed themselves and most have vowed to come back; some already have several times. Testimonials are available on request.
