Notes on accommodation
Note that the villa has two apartments entirely separated from each other in terms of access.
The upper apartment has substantial upper patio area with superb seas views and has access to the lower garden area and barbecue area for meals or for the children to play on the substantial grounds surrounding the property. There is more than ample area for sub-bathing and lounging. There is an outside shower. Out of season both apartments have large wood fire-places. The house is built with plenty of shade for the hot Summer months. You generally feel you have lots of space to move around and go for walks.
Accessibility
Access to the lower apartment is appropriate with persons with disability. Access to the patio and veranda are easy. The upper apartment is more suited for well able persons with children over 5 years of age able to negotiate stairs.
Outside
Outside has a phenomenal shared area for play and dining. With a separate garden and patio area for barbecues and dining alongside more than ample room for cars or if the children want to play a spot of football or run around. Each apartment has its own garden furniture, including sun loungers, chairs and shaded areas.
Coast/Beach
The house is on a peninsula with 260 degree sea views from both floors.
A rocky beach with access from the house via a series of steep stairs is within 5 minutes walk.
It is within 10 minutes walk of various and wonderful sandy beaches and short drives will give you access to many secluded beaches both North and South of the hamlet of houses.
Golf
Golfing enthusiasts can go to the Arena golf and country club which is 45 minutes South heading towards Oristano and built by the renowned architect Von Hagge.
Special interest holidays
Scuba diving and fishing as well as surfing in the Autumn.
Travel
Within one and a half hours of Alghero airport via car using the coastal scenic route. Two or three other alternative routes are also provided for you if you prefer driving via dual carriageway or straight roads. Car hire is essential and the airport has several of the reputable car firms in house. It is within 2 hours of Oblia and 1and a half hours from Porto Torres.
Distances
Santa Maria is a hamlet of houses nestled on top of a cliff with a church and piazza area. The nearest village is Porto Alabe which comes alive in the Summer months. This has bars and small groceries and stores. For main shopping the fishing town of Bosa is a working fishing town within 10 minutes drive of the house. It has all the major hypermarkets and any provisions you may need, you will find there.
Further details
Local shops and bars are within walking distance. The nearest cash points are found int he town of Bosa or Tresnuraghes (within 10 minutes drive). The nearest cities are in Sassari and Oristano both within an hour of each other.
The beaches are wonderful and plentiful and you are spoilt for choice in terms of the variety of beaches, from secluded coves to fully commercial beaches with discos and night clubs.
Booking notes
A 30% (non-refundable) deposit is requested when making a booking with the balance due within 4 weeks prior to departure. We demand a signed contract returned to us within 7 days in order to secure the booking.

About the owner
My father and mother live in a village called pozzomaggiore about 25 km from our villa. We decided to buy the villa partly to be closer to my parent in there old age and as an investment. We know the area very well as I used to go there when I was a young child to the beach. We aware wary of buying as we knew it was at the peak of the property boom for this area. But we fell in love the views and thought you simply can't buy this type of view anywhere else.
