Casa Ugento is on the periphery of the historic centre of this friendly, hilltop town which boasts a 9thC castle and 13thC cathedral. Ugento is a bustling market town with good cafes, bars and restaurants all within a stone’s throw, on or around the several town squares. Casa Ugento's traditional, high-vaulted ceilings remain cool in summer. The convenient, modern kitchen is well-equipped. A gated 'cortile' and private terrace allows guests to dine and entertain al-fresco. Parking is available on the quiet street outside. Saturday evenings see the local piazzas bustling with regional events. Wide sandy beaches are to be found less than 10 minutes by car or shuttle bus. The many, nearby beaches, by clear blue, unpolluted sea offer the holidaymaker tranquility on the unspoilt dunes or sophistication with sun-loungers, umbrellas, bars and al-fresco lunches and watersports. Numerous, quiet local roads enable you to explore the many 'undiscovered' villages of the Salentine region.

Further details
Events in both Ugento, local towns and the Salento Peninsula are advertised on notices posted in several main streets, or by fliers in restaurants and bars.
Ballroom and line dancing are popular local pastimes. Imbibe the atmosphere of an evening of dancing, pizza and beer at Torre Mozza a few minutes drive along the coast road.
A network of street markets in nearby towns enable a market visit every day of the week. Markets sell a wide range of goods, from furniture and clothes to food.
All along the coast and on some beaches, speciality restaurants provide excellent local fresh fish and pasta dishes. Half an hour drive will find you lunching at the friendly Hotel Le Voilier at Torre Pali where you will find one of the more unspoilt beaches.
Ugento boasts historic monuments and architecture. The castle is open daily for visits for a small fee. The museum is currently being restored and due to re-open shortly. Art exhibitions are frequent.
Good fresh food is available within walking distance of Casa Ugento from a choice of vegetable shops, delicatessen and small supermarkets.
