Its spacious interiors have been furnished very comfortably with period furniture and it has all modern conveniences. The house stands in its own extensive grounds surrounded by mature trees including olive groves, chestnuts, cypresses and fruit trees. There are 2 shady meadows on the high ground of the property. The splendid 12m x 6m swimming pool is surrounded by patio and grassy areas adjacent to the house. There are magnificent views of the Apuan Alps from all aspects of the property. Mura di Sopra is available to rent throughout the year.

The whole pool area is in full sunshine from about 10.00am until sunset. The 6m x 12m pool is solar heated to about 80-84 degrees Farenheit from mid May until late September.

Benabbio (local village) is 10 minutes walk. Basic provisions and post office. Excellent trattoria. Bagni di Lucca (the local town) is 5 minutes drive. Full shopping facilities. Supermarkets, market, restaurants, tennis, spa baths, hiking.
Barga Garfagnana - hiking, pony trekking. Abetone - nature reserves, skiing, trekking. Excellent area for eating out and for great local wines! Weather - the house is at about 1500 feet above sea level, and summers are hot with temperatures in the 80's in July and August. The evenings are cooler so sleeping is not difficult. May, June and September are usually in the high 70's. October is more variable but usually in the low 70's.

Please note that all prices are quoted in euros but can be paid in in UK pounds, net of any exchange commissions. US$ rates on application. Also available out of high season, November to March rates on application. Rentals are inclusive of maid service twice a week, gas and electricity. Security deposit £500. Telephones on each floor. All linen included.

Staying at Mura di Sopra was probably one of the best holidays we have ever taken! We did not expect such wonderful accommodation.
Our days were spent walking through the woods to Benabbio to buy fresh bread, exploring the local villages in the mountains, shopping in Lucca and then relaxing at the pool to cool off. But mostly we loved staying in what is such a cared-for home. Shelagh and Peter Gastrow. Cape Town

What a wonderful time we had in your beautiful house. It was perfectly suited to our painting and writing course,. so many delectable scenes to paint, and such utter peace..
