La Torre Antica is a prime example of a medieval tower and quietly overlooks the countryside and valley. Its unusual picturesque structure was built onto the ancient gate and walls of the village, above a small 16th century church, along the medieval walls dating back to the 14th century. The tower's windows and terrace overlook the countryside and small hamlet of approximately 200 people, where time seems to have stood still. The owner has personally restored the whole tower and divided into two flats with independent entrances (sleeping 2 and 5 respectively) but than can unified by opening a centuries old door. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and much of the furniture antique. Original 17th century beams throughout. Stone walls keep the property cool throughout the summer. The whole tower is spread out over 4 floors with various fireplaces and top quality bathrooms throughout. Cook who lives nearby can cook for a modest sum. Website and more photos please ask.

Further details
Viepri is a tiny hamlet in the Umbrian countryside just 13km south of Todi and 8km from Massa Martana a nearby walled town which is the toast of historians. You'll find banks, supermarkets and supermarkets in Massa Martana. Nearest shop from the tower is at Montecchio di Giano, about 5 km away. The Tower is conveniently situated for sightseeing and is equidistant from Umbria’s major hilltowns – 50 minutes away are the towns of Assisi, Spoleto, Orvieto and Perugia.
Rome airport is 90 minutes away and the airport of Perugia 50 minutes away with Ryanair flights Todi is ideally situated in the heart of the rolling hills of Umbria, which are covered with olive groves, fields of nodding sunflowers and vineyards.
Todi sits right at the heart of Umbria, one of Italy’s most charming regions. The countryside around Todi is an area that is hailed as one of Italy’s most livable due to the beauty of its undulating hills and the authenticity of its culture and cuisine. Know as ‘the most liveable town in the world’ according to US Kentucky University research. As a whole the region of Umbria still feels relatively untouched by the flocks of foreign tourists drawn to its better known neighbour, Tuscany. Music and dance is celebrated at the world famous outdoor summer festivals : there is Umbria Jazz in Perugia in July and the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto. Visit the wine museum near the vineyards of Torgiano and buy hand-painted ceramics at nearby Deruta. The main square in Todi, the Piazza del Popolo, is regularly described as the archetypal medieval piazza, and the best to be found in Italy, and rightly so. The focal point, the domed Cathedral which stands at the top of a flight of wide steps is truly spectacular. The centre resembles an illustration from a classic fairy-tale book. Strolling through the streets you can enjoy the finest wines, the tastiest truffles and the best ice-creams in Italy.

We rented Roberto's tower for a week at the end of March 2008. Our group included our family with two boys ages 9 and 14, and another couple. Our friends took the downstairs apartment and we had the upper levels. There was plenty of privacy, but there were also cozy common areas in which to
spend time together in front of the fireplace. The tower's medieval atmosphere was charming and comfortable, and the tiny village of Viepri was delightful. he renovation work that Roberto has done is truly lovely and tasteful, it is even more beautiful than it looks in the pictures.
Communication was very easy by email with Louise who is fluent in English, and responded to all our queries right away.
If you are looking for a wonderful experience in Italy, I can highly recommend this rental!
