Our apartment 'Papaverri' (Poppies) is situated in the beautifully restored 13th Century Castello di Gaiche, in the north of Umbria, 20km south west of Perugia and 15km south of Lake Trasimeno. It is about 45 minutes from the main A1 autostrada. It is a true haven of peace and tranquility where you can switch off and unwind. Castello di Gaiche is at the top of a hill overlooking the Nestore valley, 5km south east of Tavernelle. The castle is reached via a private 1.6km 'strada bianca' winding up the hill above Collebaldo and the picturesque Castiglion Fosco. This ground floor apartment, opening directly onto the garden, is comfortable with living room/dining room/kitchen, 1 double bedroom and bathroom with shower. It is fully furnished to a high standard and is cool in summer and central heating plus an open fire ensure it is warm in winter. A pleasant sunbathing area with good sized swimming pool is located in the grounds, complete with changing rooms, utlity room etc.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Prices are Saturday to Saturday, inclusive of electricity, gas, sheets, towels and cleaning. We apply a discount of 10% on second and subsequent weeks of stay. No pets, please, and please do not smoke in the apartment.

Changeover day is normally Saturday, but this can often be varied outside of the main season.

Accessibility
The property is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility problems.
Outside
Guests have full use of the castle grounds and the private swimming pool (7×15m), open from May to September. It is equipped with umbrellas, sun loungers, a shower and toilets. The pool is about about 3 minutes walk from the apartment, set in the surrounding parkland and with a lovely tranquil ambiance and beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The apartment opens onto lovely shared gardens and lawned areas. Chairs and tables for relaxation are scattered around the gardens, plus there is a large pergola with dining table and chairs close to the apartment. As there are only 17 privately owned apartments the grounds are usually quiet and relaxing.

The coast is approximately 2 hours drive away.
Travel
You can get to Gaiche very easily from a variety of airports with direct flights from the UK. Perugia airport is only 20km away from Gaiche. Rome Ciampino airport is just under 2 hours away with Pisa just a little further away. Nearest travel links - Perugia airport 20km, Chiusi railway 20km.
Distances
Gaiche is 2.5km from the village of Castiglion Fosco, with a small filling station, a bar, a pharmacy and a mini supermarket. The town of Tavernelle is 5km away. It has 3 supermarkets and a full range of shops, banks also with cash machine, cafes, post office, restaurant, chemist, butcher and much more.
