Il Nido is a restored, stone cottage. It has a double bedroom, sitting/lounge room with an additional bed, a mezzanine above with another bed and a modern bathroom and kitchen. There is shady terrace with views of the forest and Mt Amiata and Mt Cetona in Tuscany. The thick stone walls keep the cottage cool in summer and central heating and a wood fire keeps it warm in winter. Il Nido is in a quite location in the hills above the Chiana valley but is only 20 minutes from the autostrada exit on the A1 at Fabro and the Fabro railway station on the mainline between Rome and Florence. The cottage is located on a working olive grove. Il nido is adjacent to a walking trail that links into a network of such trails that have been marked by the Mountain Authority in the surrounding hills.

Outside
Il Nido has a terrace with table and chairs, shaded by an apple and fig tree that is convenient for outdoor eating. Parking is located behind the cottage.
Special interest holidays
We provide an olive experience during winter/spring and autumn. The winter/spring experience concentrates on the pruning of the olive trees and land management in the grove. The autumn experience concentrates on picking the olives and processing them into oil. See our website for further details.
Travel
Nearest airport is Perugia but flights are limited. Otherwise Rome or Florence which are about 2 hours by train or car. A car is essential and can be hired at Orvieto or Chiusi (major brands) or Fabro (local car hire).
Distances
The cottage is 0.5km from the borgo of Castel di Fiori and 8km from Montegabbione and Fabro. Fabro is located about half way between Rome and Florence on the A1 autostrada or railway.
Further details
There is a wide range of shops for essentials and two banks at Fabro. A wider range of shopping including ceramics is available at Orvieto. There are many restaurants in the surrounding villages.

The rent for the cottage is 500 euros per week with an additional 12 euros per day for gas central heating. Half the full rental is required as a deposit to confirm the booking and the balance is payable on arrival. We do not have credit card facilities.
