Agriturismo Castiglione has been in the owner’s family for many years. It has recently been restored and divided in 4 rental units and the owner’s residence – all set in large, fully fenced secure grounds in the hills of eastern Tuscany – a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. Just 4kms from the centre of Sansepolcro. Each apartment has its own garden area and patio and are individually designed with independent entrances, fireplaces (free wood), fitted kitchens, central heating and views over the countryside. All have typical Tuscan features such as chestnut beams, cotto tiled floors, wrought iron beds. The windows all have mosquito blinds. The bedrooms are spacious and have en-suite bathrooms with showers and bidets. The 12m x 6m pool is set in wonderful panoramic position with 360° views above the apartments and in front of the La Volpaia apartment. Pool toys. Vaccaio apartment (3 bedrooms, sleeps 6)

Stunning 3 bedroom apartment. Its name evokes the old use of this part of the farm. It was the “vaccaio” or cattle shed and was anciently a cattle shelter and the shepherd’s home. This airy apartment is on two floors connected by a spiral staircase. The ground floor has fully equipped kitchen with dining room. A separate living room with fireplace and TV. The two bedrooms are on the ground floor both with en-suites. The main bedroom has a double bed and the other bedroom has two single beds. The third mezzanine bedroom is accessed by the spiral staircase and has sofa bed suitable for kids. Outside table and chairs with umbrellas for alfresco dining.

La Volpaia apartment (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4+2)

Charming spacious 2 bedroom apartment which is directly in front of the pool about 150 metres from the other apartments. The main bedroom has a double bed and small sofa that can double into a bed suitable for children. En-suite bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has a double bed with French windows leading directly on to the terrace and the pool – it also has its own on-suite with shower. Dining area outside with great private BBQ facilities. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, and stove – great views of the pool and surrounding countryside. Cosy fireplace for the winter. Mosquito blinds on all the windows. The apartment can also be let as a one bedroom flat - we would close off the other bedroom that leads to the pool (check in high season).

Il Fontanile apartment (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4+2)

Called Il Fontanile because it was used a drinking trough for cattle. Two bedrooms both with en suites. One has a double bed and the other twin wrought iron beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and leads to the living room which has a cosy fireplace and sofa bed. Outside table and chairs with parasols for alfresco dining. Mosquito blinds on the windows

La Cantina apartment (2 bedrooms, sleeps 4)
|
The Cantina was the place where wine, oil and cheese produced in the farm were persevered. The main bedroom has a wrought iron four poster bed with it’s own en suite. The second bedroom has two single beds and an en suite. Corner kitchen leading to the living room with fireplace and TV. Outside dining area and mosquito blinds on the windows. In mid and low season this apartment can be let to couple as a one bedroom apartment at discount prices (we close off the other bedroom).

Notes on accommodation
Laundry room with washing machine available for guests to use whenever they like. Towels for pool can be provided. The houses are all very cool in summer as they are made of Tuscan stone. Heating to be paid apart in the Winter or Spring. Very suitable for children and they are very welcome as large play areas in the surrounding garden, pool toys. House can be rented as whole for groups of guests - discount on advertised prices for this kind of rental.
Outside
The house is surrounded by gardens and each apartment has its own outdoor furniture. The swimming pool is shared and is 12 metres by 6 metres with roman steps. Above the pool is a panoramic terrace great for sunbathing with superb views. Plenty of walks directly from the property into the woods and fields.
Coast/Beach
One hour from the Adriatic Coast where you can visit Rimini, Riccione etc. The Tyrennhian coast is about 2 hours away.
Golf
Golf course about 20 mins away.

Further details
Four kilometres away is the lovely Renaissance walled town of Sansepolcro (home to Piero della Francesca's famous fresco 'The Resurrection') which attracts visitors from all over the world. It has supermarkets and a full range of shops, banks, cafes, wine bars and a post office, plus a lively market twice weekly and a wide selection of restaurants. Local pool has great slides for kids. Sansepolcro has year-round events and festivals including the traditional September crossbow contest the Palio della Balestra. During the summer there is a weekly antiques market on Friday. Sansepolcro is brilliantly placed for exploring both Tuscany and Umbria. It’s within a short drive of renowned renaissance towns such as Arezzo, Anghiari, Cortona. Arezzo hosts a giant monthly antiques market. Don’t miss the numerous events that take place in the areas: lots of festivals, shows, historical parades, folklore celebration and free concerts all year. There is always somewhere new to visit, and Sansepolcro itself offers a great deal of history and famous art. Sansepolcro has a great feel of the real Italy, and the local villagers go out of their way to make you welcome. For the more athletic, there are many sports you can do nearby: tennis courts in the local swimming pool (5 mins) and a golf course (10 mins). For those who love water sports, in 15 minutes you can reach a beautiful lake where you can go fishing, canoeing and even surf. Not to be missed is nearby Anghiari – 10 minutes drive - voted one of the most beautiful hllltop villages. Discover the charming cobbled streets, artisan shops and traditional trattorie. Caprese Michelangelo – Michelangelo’s birthplace and La Verna (where St. Frances got his stigmata) are about 20 mintues drive. Within an hour you can visit Perugia, Lake Trasimeno, Cortona, Assisi, Gubbio, Città di Castello. Florence is an hour and 20 mins drive - easier to take the train from Arezzo. Siena, San Gimignano and Bologna 2 hours.
