Mulino Dello Zoppo is a secluded Mill House surrounded by mature gardens and its own vineyard, nestled in the Val di Chio, Tuscany, not far from Cortona. It sleeps eight comfortably, has its own private heated swimming pool and is available for rent but with an option of meals prepared for you.

Changeover day
Change over days during the season are Saturdays. This however is not the case during out of season bookings when arrival/departure days are flexible.

Notes on accommodation
Mulino Dello Zoppo has full central heating for visits outside of the summer season Guests are welcome all year round. During the summer period there are fans for each room and shutters on all the windows. The villa lends itself well to family holidays with the pool close to the house and plenty of space for children.
Outside
Mulino Dello Zoppo boasts a beautfully maintained garden, with large open areas for playing and relaxing. With the private heated 10x5 metre pool close to the house and large patio area around the pool makes for a perfect area to relax. Adjacent to the pool is your own covered al fresco dining area (seats 8) with BBQ.
Coast/Beach
Tuscany being centrally situated a trip to either Mediterrean or Adriatic coast is approx 2 hours by car.
Special interest holidays
On site there is a caretaker to help with any questions you may have during your stay, regarding restaurants or sites. If you require meals at home then that can be arranged for you.
Travel
The nearest Airport is Perugia at about 45 minutes away, then Florence at 1 hour. Served by Meridiana British Airways and Alitalia. The low cost airlines such as Ryan Air serve the following airports Rome, Bologna, Pisa and Ancona. These are approx 2 hours from the house.

There is a wide variety of local shops inside the walled town of Castiglion Fiorentino, for you to browse. There is good selection of resturants to suit every budget as well as banks with ATM and supermarkets. Only ten minutes away is the lovely town of Cortona made famous by Frances Mayes' book Under The Tuscan Sun.

About the owner
We are the Barone family. We have two boys ,Luca is almost 9 and Eryn will be 1 in June. We moved to Italy in 2001 having decided to make a life change and spent a year restoring our house before we opened up for rentals. Both Andrea and I, Jonti have spend many years working in the hospitality industry and left the world of private yachting to move to Italy.Over the years in Italy we have missed the sea, so now we spend our time between Italy and Antigua as Andrea has returned to yachting and spends his winters in the Caribbean. We both have a passion for perfection in what we do and try our very best to provide a relaxed ,comfortable environment for you to enjoy a holiday at our home.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We came to Cortona for a month to house hunt in June 2000. Andrea's father was Italian and lived in Rome which was an easy train journey away from the local station. The area surrounding Cortona is beautiful and we searched with many agents all over the area for a property going into Umbria as well as searching in Tuscany. We stumbled across our house with an Italian agent. It was all a bit overgrown and need of work but two funny things happened when we were at the house which made us feel that this was the house for us.
Now that we have lived at the house we appreciate so much the fact that we live in a valley where access in and out is incredibly easy and yet when you are at the house you feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of life.
Unique benefits of the property
Mulino Dello Zoppo is so convenient from an access point of view. The local shop that is fabulous and sells everything which can be walked to with ease. The town of Castiglion Fiorentino is a charming authentic hill town with a market, shops and good restaurants.The train line stop in town means Florence is any easy hour away or Rome two hours without the trouble of driving and parking. Even the main motorway of Italy the A1 is 20 minutes away so from an access point of view we are so well serviced and yet at the house it is just lovely peace and quiet.
